Merry Christmas!

..."And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the LORD. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:10-14

This Christmas story in the Bible has always been one of my favorites. I espeically love the King James version...I love the old words. Reading this account of the birth of Jesus always brings back fond memories of being asked to hold the honor of reading the Christmas story in Utica at my grandparents. The grandchild asked to read was usually hitting some sort of milestone that year- going into Middle School, graduating high school, college, whatnot. Regardless of who was asked to read, I was always caught up in the words of these important verses. In the chaos of Christmas between shopping and not having nearly enough time to spend with the ones you dearly love, I always found this scripture so serene. And, it usually only takes me a second to remember why we are celebrating Christmas & to put all of that craziness aside for just a little while & truly appreciate what we have.

Carly & Mom came in town this weekend to pick up Hutch and our dogs. They made it back safe & sound (& with their sanity, if you can imagine) yesterday. While Jeremy & I have really enjoyed a couple of days to ourselves, we CAN'T WAIT to hit the road tomorrow & go join everyone. We head to Shreveport tomorrow, then on to Jackson first thing on Thursday.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope you all enjoy these next few days & take a few minutes to remember what the Christmas season is all about!

So this is Christmas...

Hello, fellow bloggers! We have been super busy lately gearing up for Christmas. The countdown is on, that is for sure! Hutch seems pretty excited, as you can see below...Jeremy brought him by the other night before we headed to Temple for Hutch to meet his Aunt Cindy & visit with Mee Mow, Pow Pow, and Aunt Jan. Here he is with Karan posing for a pic. Hutch's Monie & Grandpappy gave him an exercauser for Christmas. Needless to say, he LOVES it! It is so entertaining watching him spin around & try to place with everything at once. I will try to post a video soon.
We had a great time last weekend with Jeremy's family in Fredericksburg. Because we will be spending Christmas in MS, we got together for the weekend & had an early Christmas with Jeremy's fam! Here is Hutch with his Uncle Jarrod.
Proud Grandma, don't ya think???
This was just a cute shot I snapped last Friday morning. Carly, LOVE the sweater!
I'm on my lunch break so I must run! Things have been super busy & I don't see everything slowing down until after the New Year. My Mom & Carly are coming Saturday & staying thru Monday. They will be taking the dogs & Hutch to Jackson early for us. Jeremy & I will have 3 nights by ourselves....wow. I don't really know what we will do? Haha! I think I see a date night in our future. We are super excited about heading to Jackson next week- yay! Have a great rest of the week!

I love New York!

We had such a FABULOUS time in NYC! I absolutely LOVE that place! We managed to fit SO much in while we were there. Here are a few highlights from our trip:
  • The Muse- our hotel was incredible. Not only was is super sleek, it was also super close to everything.
  • Marriott Restaurant- we ate at the revolving restaurant our first night, which gave us a first look at all of NYC while we had a divine dinner.
  • Double Decker bus- we had a 3 day pass, which proved to be well worth the money. We were able to use the bus as transportation throughout the trip, while checking out all the famous NYC spots.
  • Central Park- loved, loved, loved this place. I wish we could have spent more time here- it was beautiful!
  • Tavern on the Green- did you know they are shutting this place down & reopening it under a new name? I am so glad we were able to experience the real thing before the name changes & the Crystal Room is taken down. It was truly amazing.
  • Wicked- need I say more?
  • Today Show- Thank you, Dean and Deluca, for the perfect window spot to view Matt & Meredith while sipping our joe.
  • The tree at Rockefeller Center- thought it would be smaller than I imagined, but I was pleasantly surprised- it was so pretty!
  • The Rockettes- yes, even though I dozed off a couple of times in the show (I was really sleepy), those dancing dolls were super talented.
  • Ellen's Stardust Cafe- the waitstaff here is composed of young guys & gals trying to make it on Broadway. They provided great entertainment while we ate dinner- I hope they all make it!
  • Empire State Building- amazing views...well worth it!
  • Jude Law spotting after Hamlet
  • Hanging out with the paparazzi at the Ritz Carlton- yes, we were total tourists.
  • Statue Liberty- even though the weather was yucky, she was beautiful!
  • Ground Zero- it was just surreal being there. I really loved visiting St. Paul's Chapel, which acted as a refuge for volunteers and those who were missing loved ones. If you haven't heard this historic chapel's story, check it out!
  • New York bagels- they lived up to all the hype
  • Lombardi's- yummy!
  • Little Italy & Chinatown- SO much fun!

Here are a few pics!

NYC residents get a really bad rap- everyone we met was nothing but nice. We loved the people! It was wonderful being there during Christmas. We had SO much fun!!!!!

New York, New York!!!!

Tomorrow morning I fly out to NYC to meet up with my mom, Alissa, and her mom. Girls trip!!! I am so excited!!! Here are a few things we have on the agenda:
  • Lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center tomorrow (Alicia Keys & Michael Buble will be performing!)
  • Today show
  • Lunch at Tavern on the Green
  • Wicked
  • The Rockettes
  • Double Decker Night tour
  • NY pizza!!! (for those of you who know me well- I will be in heaven, for sure)

We will be there until Sunday, so we will be super busy trying fit everything in. Of course, we will be going to the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, SoHo, etc., also. I will be sure to post lots of pics when we return!

We had such a great Thanksgiving- we have so much to be thankful for! Hutch seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself in Brownwood at his great-grandparents. It was great to be surrounded by good food & family! I will post pics later!

8 Months Old!

Today we celebrate Hutch being 8 months old! Wow, how time flies! I am simply amazed at how much Hutch has grown, especially over the past couple of months. I don't really notice any significant difference in his phsycical features, but it is nothing short of amazing watching him interact with us each day. He is CONSTANTLY grabbing everything & can not sit still for a second. Despite being sick over the past couple of weeks, he is still full of smiles. He is just so much more aware of everything that is going on. Here he is this morning very happy to be 8 months old. I thought I would post a few more pics from this past weekend. Hutch had a great time sitting at the table with everyone at Home Slice. Here he is with Jeremy's Dad (a.k.a. Grandpappy)

This picture of Doug cracked me up- I just had to share it.
Before Hutch sampled the basil & tomato.
During lunch, we set Hutch's high chair up in the middle of everyone in the living room. He was pretty happy being the center of attention. Or maybe it was the Gerber puffs.
No plans this weekend- yay!!!! This is our last "plan-free" weekend until after the holidays, so I am looking forward to some much needed R & R. Hutch is getting tubes in his ears on Tuesday. We met with an ENT Specialist Wed., and he suggested we get them asap due to Hutch having alot of fluid in his ears. We are really anxious to get this done, as we can tell he just hasn't been himself over the past few weeks. He is constantly tugging at his ears & pulling his hair. I think his whole head just hurts all the time. It is just heartbreaking. So, we are really looking forward to getting that fixed. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!! TGIF!

Dedication Weekend

We had such a great time this weekend celebrating Hutch's dedication. For those of you who don't know- we joined Lake Hills Church back in January, and we LOVE IT! We didn't go very much after Hutch was born, but over the past few months, we have really tried to get more involved. The girls at the nursery adore our little man, and I am so excited b/c I am going to start volunteering in the nursery next Sunday. So, Hutch was dedicated at the church, and we were so honored to have so many friends and family present during the service. After the service, we had everyone over to the house for lunch. Carly and Marc came in Saturday, along with Jeremy's Dad. Alissa drove in from Houston on Sunday (you were missed, Jenn!) Marc was SO nice to bring his camera & take some snapshots (over 400 to be exact!) of us. He is so talented- I posted my faves below. The weekend was absolutely perfect!

Hutch & Aunt Carly cutting up
Haha- Me & Carly laughing about who knows what. Oh, wait, I know- Carly tickling me. Haley, you were certainly missed all weekend- but I sure thought of you while these pics were being taken- I know how love to get in a few pinches when we get sister shots! Love you! BTW, I think this is the cutest pic of Carly- isn't she such a cutie?

Ahhhh, just sweetness.

Hutch does this thing with his tongue all the time- I think it mainly has to do with his teething. We always do it with him b/c he thinks its funny. So glad Marc caught this on film, as it is an awesome picture of Hutch & his Dad.

Had to post this one so everyone can see this great view of the 'hawk. It's a very curly mohawk, indeed. I think it suits him quite nicely.

Just too cute not to post.
Sunday was such a special day. We certainly missed all those who were unable to make it (Mom, Dad, Haley, Lynn, all our grandparents, etc.!), but we were overwhelmingly blessed by all of our friends & family who were able to join us. Thank you all so much!

It's Been A While...

Sorry for the delay in my new post- I have been on a computer break. No facebook, no email, no blogging. You know how sometimes you just need a break from it all?

We had a great time in Houston last weekend. Carly & Mark threw Mark's sister & her husband (Daniella & Jason) a baby shower, so we headed to Htown to help the parent's to be celebrate. The shower was FABULOUS & they had such a great turn out. The food was delish, the decorations super cute, and the mommy to be just simply glowing. They are such great people- we are so happy for them & can't wait to meet little Jordan. We were also thrilled to spend the weekend with my parents! They made the drive in from Jackson, so we were able to hang out with the fam for a few days. The only person missing was Haley & she certainly was missed!

Hutch is currently trying to get over a never ending head cold. My gosh, why won't it go away already???? Poor little thing has been dealing with this since last Tuesday. Over the course of a week, he has been to the doctor 3 times & been on 2 antibiotics. The doctors think it's his ears & have referred him out to a specialist (please let us get tubes!) next week. He has now had 4 ear infections. Plus, he is teething really bad, so he has been pretty fussy. We miss our old Hutch & I know he is super ancious to kick this funk he has.

Hutch will be dedicated at church on Sunday! It is going to be such a special day & we are so honored that our Austin family (& Carly and Mark) and friends will be in attendance. We are having everyone over for lunch afterwards, so that should be fun! I will be sure to post lots of pics...hopefully the little guy will be feeling better.

Have a great remainder of the week & weekend!

Cutest. Monkey. Ever.

I hope that everyone had a fabulous Halloween! We had SO much fun & Hutch was such a great sport about wearing his monkey costume! We attended a couple of parties & got to not only show off our little monkey, but we were able to see sooooo many cute kiddos in their Halloween gear. It was so much fun! Here are pics from our big day!

I had to throw this one in- we went to Babies R Us yesterday & Hutch rode in the cart for the first time! I think he really liked it- he kept laughing & checking everything out. I had to prop my purse up next to him half way thru, though, b/c he kept sort of falling over to the side. He is definitely getting better about sitting up on his own, but we still have a little ways to go on the balance piece!
Our dept. always dresses up as a group theme for Halloween. Last year, we were beauty queens. We decided to go total opposite this year & be a biker gang! And what was REALLY funny about this, is we were a bi-cycle gang! It was a great day- we had our United Way 2010 Campaign kickoff which consisted of a chili contest & silent auction. As always, it was a blast!

Early Bird

It's no secret that I like to get up early. I definitely picked this trait up from my Dad who without fail is up every morning around 5 AM. I especially LOVE waking up super early on the weekends & making up for my lack of sleep with a long nap in the afternoon. Sometimes, however, on Thursdays & Fridays when I have alot to do & I am in a fab mood about the upcoming weekend, I will wake up really early before going to work. For example, this morning- Hutch woke up at 3:30, so I fed him & put him back down. Now, my alarm was not set to go off for 2 more hours, BUT here I am! I realized this morning that I love getting up this early b/c it allows me to have some Lindsey time. Everyone else is asleep, Jeremy isn't using the computer for studying, Hutch is in his own little dreamland back in his nursery, I can catch up on The Ellen Show that I have DVRd throughout the week. Ahhhh, lovely. SO many great things about having a couple of restful hours all to myself. As those of you with kiddos can relate- our days start off with trying to juggle getting ourselves ready for work, lunches made, and Hutch ready for "school". We usually have to wake him up, as currently he likes to wake up once anytime b/w 1-4 during the night, so he has already gone back to sleep. The evenings seem to go by in even more of a whirlwind. We are usually all home by around 6. Hutch will usually starting hearing his internal dinner bell shortly after. Then, it's bath time & into the pjs. We typically only have about 2 hours with him before it's story time & then off to bed!

SO, I have not had a whole lot of time to update my blog since my last post, but there really hasn't been alot of what you may consider excitement going on at our house over the past couple of weeks! We have really had a couple of relaxing weekends- it has been so nice! We are getting super excited about celebrating Hutch's first Halloween! We are going to a party for a couple of hours early evening- I can't wait to post pics of Hutch in his monkey costume! Sunday, I am heading to N Austin for Race for the Cure. We have a team with work & I think we are going to have over 80 people representing! We also kick off our UW Campaign at work tomorrow with our annual chili cookoff tomorrow. I volunteered to make the chili for our dept., so I am anxious to see how that goes- thanks, Hal, for the recipe! Well, you know I can't post without throwing in a few pics! Here are a few randoms that I snapped within the past week....

Here we are just hanging out at home! I took this on Tuesday.

Hutch checking out his Halloween costume. He was not impressed. This was just before he started screaming & hitting it.

How cute is this sweater pj set? I had to pick up a few new things for Hutch last weekend b/c he is quickly growing out of everything we have here. I think he liked it.

So, last weekend we had pumpkin painting contest at work for kids. Because Hutch is not old enough yet to decorate a pumpkin, I thought I would just dress him up as one. Well, he won Overall Cutest Pumpkin! Here he is with his ribbon- he was very, very proud.

Well, friends, I guess that is it for now! Hutch is growing so quickly & it is absolutely amazing to see his desire to do different things develop. He laughs ALL the time- the ladies at his daycare can't get over how happy he is every day. When we pick him up in the afternoon, he immediately breaks out into giggles as soon as he sees us. It is so funny! He also has recently developed a love for Gerber Graduate Rice puffs- wow. He goes CRAZY when he sees them! At daycare, they place a few on his exercauser & he spins around in circles trying to pick them all up as fast as we can. I think this just confirms we have a seroius eater on our hands.
Hope you all have a great week & a Happy Halloween!!!!

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

This blog will be super fast, as we are about to head over to the Pletcher's to watch the Red River Shoot Out. Hook 'em horns! Last night, we had a great time with Kyle & Jessica at the Mediterranean Festival downtown. It was our first time to go & the food & music was fab! Hutch was super excited to be out WAY past his bedtime. And, of course, to being held by Aunt Jessica!
Hutch loves his Uncle Pletch, too!

Hutch & Mom

We had SO much fun in MS. The trip actually getting there was a bit of a nightmare- I think that story deserves its own blog- will post this week. Hutch was a bit sick the whole weekend, but he still had fun cheering on the Dawgs at his first MSU game. He also loved seeing his girlfriend, Ollie, whom he had not seen since May! Who says long distance relationships don't work? We were also super excited to meet our new cousin, Alex. She is SOOOO cute!

Here we are in the stand- we were hooked up with club level seats. Hutch thinks that is the only way to watch a football game. It was so nice!

Tailgating before the game!

On the trip to Starkville in the tank that we rented. This suv was HUGE!

Hanging out with my grandparents!

Nothing like the back porch at my parents!

Hutch loves his Flashy!

We didn't get to go to the fair due to forecasted bad weather, so I was a bit disappointed. BUT, our trip was SO much fun! We were able to meet LB & Whit for lunch, visit my Mom's office, catch a SHORT visit with my Dad (he was on his annual golf trip while we were in town, and he made it back about 15 minutes before we headed back to Austin). Hutch was able to spend time with his Great-grandparents, Aunt Jan & Uncle Bruce, Great-Gran, Aunt Carly, Uncle Mark, and the whole MSU tailgating crew. It was a blast! Gotta run- more late!

Off the Shelf

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. I am sure many of you fellow book reading bloggers have already read this, but if not, I highly recommend. The book focuses on a man who encounters a tragedy in his personal life. He basically meets God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit at the scene where the tragedy took place. The book tries to answer "why bad things happen to good people." While there were a few parts of the book that were a bit cheesy, I really liked how he presented the Trinity and religion overall. Great read- oh, and from the insert in the back- looks like they are trying to get enough people to read to make it into a movie!

This Mississippi Girl is Heading Home

Hutch & I are catching a flight tomorrow bound for Jackson! I am SOOOOO excited to get back home- haven't been there since Memorial Day, so I feel very overdue. Carly & Mark will be heading that way either Thursday or Friday & Jeremy is flying in Friday night. Besides obviously being overjoyed about spending a few days with my dear friends & family, here are a couple other things I am really looking forward to...

1) The Mississippi State Fair! I can not begin to tell you how excited I am about the fair. I have not been since I was in high school, so I made sure to plan this trip while the fair was in Jackson. Now, all you Jackson natives & current residents may be concerned that I have lost my mind. As a kid, my parents would always take my sisters & me to the fair every year for Midnight Maddness. We would count down the days & loose sleep the nights prior to this big event. We couldn't WAIT to stay up late getting caught up in all of the excitement the fair had to offer. As I grew older, I would go several times a year- at least once always with my family & then maybe a few times with my friends. I remember one year clogging up on the square dancer stage (they weren't performing at that moment) & entertaining my friends. One year, I won a fish, which turned out to be a tadpole that I named Henderson, after a Counting Crows song ( I was going thru a really strange phase at that time in my life.) Henderson actually lived for several months & grew to be a REALLY large tadpole. Another year I was grounded for 2 weeks because my Dad said I couldn't go to the fair with friends, but I went anyways. Although the wrist band to ride all of the rides for free doesn't quite have the same appeal as it used to, I still can't help but feel like a kid again when I think of the big yellow slide, petting zoo, airbrushed t shirt stands, pig races, free biscuits, Pronto Pups, Malone's Taffy, game booths, and circus that never failed me year after year. And the smells....the fair has a distinct smell of fried food mixed with a trash like odor. If the wind blows in just the right direction I swear you can smell it in any of the surrounding counties. If you are looking for me Friday evening, I will be busy strolling down that Midway taking it all in again....only this time, I will have Hutch with me! Although I doubt the fair will leave much of an impression on our little man, I am so excited to bring him with us!

2) Mississippi State Football!!! I have not been to a MSU game in 2 years! I should be ashamed of myself, I know. This will be Hutch's first football game, and I think he is really excited. Jeremy has been trying to get Hutch interested in the sport early by watching Gameday together. I am also really looking forward to tailgating with family & friends!

Oh, on a different note, Hutch doesn't have to be fitted for a helmet! We met with the neurosurgeon last week & she said his head is not that bad & can be corrected over time by just doing excercises. She said she can tell it is already starting to round out. We were SO excited to hear this! Hope everyone has a fabulous week & will post pics when we return from our trip!

Off to Thailand She Goes

I wanted to dedicate this blog to my sweet sister, Haley, as she heads to Thailand today. She will be gone for at least a year-sniff sniff. Haley, we know that amazing things await you over there. Know that we will miss you dearly & think of you every day. You will be in our prayers & we are already anxiously awaiting your return. I can't wait to hear all about your stories & adventures. This year will fly by! Know that we love you & miss you tons, little little sister!

Quarantined

Well, our house has been a barrell of fun over the past week or so! Jeremy thought he had the flu last week, but luckily, did not. Hutch got sick at daycare on Friday, so we spent the weekend pretty much at home doing routine fever checks. I discovered on Sunday that I have pink eye. Hutch was super sick Monday so Jeremy stayed home with him & took him to the doctor. Looks like it is some sort of virus- SO glad it wasn't flu or bronchitis or any of the other crazy things my wild imagination came up with. Hutch broke his fever around 3 yesterday, so we couldn't take him to daycare today due to the 24 hour rule. This also meant we couldn't take him in for his scheduled appt with the neurosurgeon (rescheduled for tomorrow am). Last night we noticed he had a rash all over his legs & his eyes were red. SO, back to the doctor today b/c I was convinced that despite the constant sanitizing of my hands, I had passed on the lovely pink eye to him. The pedicatrician told me that he, in fact, does not have pink eye & his eyes are red probably due to the virus that he has. He also thinks this has caused the rash on his legs. Yay!

He is much better today & I think he is super excited about kickin' it with the other kids at daycare tomorrow. We don't quite have the toy variety that they keep on hand there. I can only sing & do stupid dances for so long before even Hutch starts yawning & checking out his fingernails. May be time for a new investment. Bouncer, maybe?
Despite all of his troubles, the little dude has still been as happy as ever. He hasn't stopped smiling! Here are some recent pictures I thought you may enjoy:
Taken this morning. After taking about 5, I realized that if he has pink eye, then that moment was probably not the most ideal for flash photography. Oops. Sorry, little man.
How awesome is his hair in this pic? And, yes, it looks like this ALL the time. And, no, I don't put anything in it nor do I make it stand up like that. It is au natural, baby. It is getting thinner by the day. What a fun, frizzy 'do, huh? Looks like we may be putting the 'hawk aside for a while & going with the fro.

Nothing exciting going on here. We have experienced our first taste of fall here in Austin, so I was so excited last week to pull some long sleeve clothes out of his closet. He usually wears onesies, so I am always up for an opportunity to dress him up a bit.

I bet the baby chicks at daycare couldn't take their eyes off this little stud that day.

I have been meaning to post the following pics for a while. Isn't this hilarious? I mean, Hutch, GET COMFORTABLE already! No reason not to kick back! He L-O-V-E-S his bottles. And his Dad.

Sometimes he loves his bottles so much, he can't wait to sit down! He is convinced that he has such strong suction power, he can just suck that milk right out of the bottle, even when it is right side up. We think this means he will be very smart. Not really sure how that relates to what he is doing in this pic. Just thought I would throw that in there.
Hutch was so upset about his first day at "school." I mean, it was all we could do to get him in the car seat & out the door. No, really, this was literally taken the morning of his first day at daycare. I am not sure how I managed to get such a good pic amidst all of my sobbing & anxiety attacks. Hutch obviously took this day much better than his parents.
