Hangin' with Hutch

So, our first week has been such a blast. We have had a great time getting to know little Hutch & he seems to really like his new home. My Mom was here all last week, and she was just a life saver! She did SO much...from cooking great dinners every night to washing clothes to changing diapers to staying up with Hutch so we could get some sleep. We had some friends ask us today, "So, how has it been with a newborn at home?" We said, "It's been great! Super easy! Ask us next week." We really don't know what we would have done without her here! I was so sad to see her go & she hated to tell her new grandson goodbye. We were both pretty emotional today. She will be back in a month, though, with my grandparents, so I am really looking forward to that!

Hutch has had jondis (sp?) really bad since he left the hospital. He had his first pediatrician appt. on Monday & his score was higher than it should be- it had increased since we left the hospital. He had to go to the doctor every day last week & have his heel pricked. I think he was so used to it that he stopped crying by Wed. The doctor had us place him in a special bed that exposes him to light in order to try & rid him of the jondis. The bed looked like a suitcase, but when you opened it, it looked like a mini tanning bed on the inside. He had to wear the special goggles while he was inside & the doctor asked us to keep him in it all times except for when feeding- for 2 days! He actually seemed to enjoy broke our hearts, though. He looked so cute in his little goggles- will post a pic of that soon. He just sprawled out in it & soaked up the rays. It really helped b/c his levels have gone down ever since...I take him back to the doctor tomorrow for a follow up.

I guess that is all for now! Tomorrow is my first day at home with everyone gone. I am really looking forward to having the next couple of months off to hang out with Hutch. Here are some recent pics of him. More soon!!!!

These were actually taken today...thought I could get a couple of good shots of the little guy posing. It looks like he is thinking, "Um, I have a question..."

We Love Our Little Boy!

Long limbs- Hutch has such long legs & arms- they are so cute!Taking in his new home...his eyes are so big & dark blue right now. We are sure they will turn to brown any day now.

RIGHT after Hutch was born- I think this is such a cute picture!
We are so glad to be home, and Hutch is slowing adjusting to his new life. Last night was our first night here, and as expected, there was little sleep. It was so great to bring him home- he is slowly taking everything in & just trying to figure out what exactly is going on here. We made it home from the hospital around 3:00- we were greeted at home by our wonderful families & some friends. Hutch experienced his first cookout- it was quite the welcome home party. Things are bit more quiet now- everyone has headed back home except for my Mom. She will be here all week to help out- we are so glad to have her here! As any new proud parent would, I am sure that most of my posts will now be cute pics taken of Hutch. I will write more soon!

Welcome to the World, Hutch!

The sign in our room
Our happy family

We are SO excited our little boy has arrived! Hutch made his appearance last night at 8:13, after 14 hours of labor. We are so excited that he is here! Of course, we just think he is perfect! Here are his stats: 8 lbs 4 oz & 21 in long. He popped out with a head full of black hair & the cutest little lips. And, most importantly, he is super healthy.

I am feeling fine & Jeremy is great, also. We are really ready to head home- plan on going home tomorrow around noon or so. We were so fortunate to have our parents & siblings present. Above are a couple of the many pics that have been taken of little Hutch- I will post more once I get home. Thanks for all of your prayers & calls & support!

Long Time, No Blog...

It has been forever, it seems, since I last blogged. I don't really have an excuse- we certainly haven't been busy- just waiting! To be perfectly honest, I just haven't really had anything interesting to really blog about! We are super pumped today, however. My parents & sisters are en route as we speak to Austin. After meeting with my doctor yesterday, she decided to go ahead & have me check in to the hospital tonight so we can get things ready for me to be induced tomorrow. Needless to say, we are SO excited & super nervous. Last night, Jeremy & I were watching TV, and we realized that it was our last night in our house by ourselves. Wow, talk about surreal! We just sat there & let that sink in for a few minutes. We just can't believe that it is finally here....we can't wait to meet our little man!

SO, looks like he should be here sometime on Thursday, if everything goes according to plan! Jeremy & I decided to take off today to get ready & enjoy our last day of freedom. He is out kayacking on Lady Bird Lake right at this moment. I am just going thru my mental checklist to make sure everything is ready to go & our bags are packed. It was so odd leaving work yesterday knowing that I won't be back to work until mid-June. Crazy!

Please keep us in your prayers throughout the next few days & I will blog more as soon as I can! XOXO!

Catching Up

Levi Recovering

It has been about a week since I last wrote & several things have happened, so let me bring you all up to speed. Here are this week's headlines:

It's no secret that Levi loves beer. He can spot a beer bottle/ can from a mile away & once he has a little sip, he is attached to your side for the rest of the evening. So, everyone thinks this is really funny & cute, right, so they give him beer. Then another person comes along and gives him some more beer. Then, someone notices that he is begging & OH, Levi likes peanuts! So, they give him nuts. And Wheat Thins. And more beer. This goes on throughout out our shower, which lasted approximately 5 hours. We have decided this is the 2nd best day in Levi's life (topping the charts- Stoneleigh Pool Party Summer of 2007). Well, Tuesday rolls around & Levi is super sick & has the serious shakes when we are leaving to go to work. We decide to take him to the vet & they hook him up to an IV to rehydrate him. They have to run xrays & give him dry food to get him back to normal. Basically, we think, Levi had a $300 hangover. Needless to say, he will be under strict supervision during our next get together.

That's right! We had an ultrasound done on Tuesday & Hutch is already weighing in at 7 lbs 7 oz.'s! There is some concern that my original due date (3/30) is actually wrong, and it should be closer to 3/20. My doctor asked how I felt about being induced, and I basically told her to let's get this ball rolling. So, in efforts to not have a 12 pound baby :), she went ahead & scheduled me to be induced on 3/19. Needless to say, we are so excited & even though there is always a chance he will come early, our families will be here for the big day. AND, Carly & Haley are on Spring Break that week, so everything just works out perfectly! We knew the only way our families could be here is if we were scheduled to be induced, so this was great news!

SO, my bday was on Tuesday & some friends of mine at work decided we should all go to lunch to Macaroni Grill to celebrate my birthday today. So, when we walked in there were several people already there & there was a table with a diaper cake & several gifts. It was such a surprise! We had such a great time & I was so honored to have so many people attend & put such effort into throwing a surprise luncheon for me. In fact, I think that is the first surprise party I have ever had! It was a blast! We had a great time- I am truly blessed to work with such great people!

So, that wraps up the significant events in our lives at the moment. We are just trying to make sure that everything is ready to go when Hutch arrives. This means that Jeremy has a few things left to put together, which needless to say, he is thrilled about. We have a few things going on this weekend, but nothing super crazy. I will write more when I can! Have a great weekend!
