More MS Pics

Oops, due to technical difficulty, I had to load these pics on a separate post. Oh, and just to try & avoid any confusion...all captions are listed above the pics vs. below, as I typically do. :)Hutch with his Mee Mow in Utica

Thanks, Alissa, for the onesie! They are SO cute!

Hutch and his girlfriend, Ollie. I would't say it was love at first sight, BUT Hutch sure did break out into a huge grin when he first met this little cutie. It was hilarious- wish I had a camera handy then!
Hutch just hanging out
Hutch with his granddad- it was suggested that he be called "BooRay", and I love it! My Dad, on the other hand, wasn't quite so fond of the name. Oh, well, he has time to let it grow on him. I think Hutch had just finished eating b/c he looks just miserably full...haven't we all felt like this at some point?

Good Times in Mississippi

We've Come a Long Way from Cancun!!! Haha...here is me with Hutch, Natalie with Kehle & Kennedy, and Leahbeth and Whit. We have all been great friends since high school & we went on our senior trip together to Cancun. We were laughing so hard about how we have really grown up since then. We've definitely come a long, that is for sure! It was great to see you guys!!

My parents had a cookout on Sunday. We had about 30 people come over, I think. It was so much fun! Here are Haley & Mary Straton pausing for a pic. And, for those of you who don't know Mary Straton- no, she is not our long lost sister! She is married to our cousin, Kell. I think we could all pass as sisters or cousins or something actually blood related, though. :)

This was too funny to pass up. Here is Hutch taking a break from his stressful life in his Aunt Carly's lap.

Hutch at 9 Weeks

Hutch had his 2 month checkup yesterday- I can't believe it! He has grown so much & we are a amazed at how much his personality has started to show. We have realized within the past few weeks that he is going to be quite the independent little man. He likes to have "Hutch time" where he is left alone & not held. I thought that didn't occur until he was in his teens??? He loves his activity mat (a.k.a. "disco"). He moves (we like to think of this as dancing) like CRAZY! You can tell he wants to crawl so bad. Perhaps he has caught this "go-itis" from his mother? Hmmmm..... He recently discovered a new set of lungs this week- that boy can let out some screams. He has started smiling & laughing. We can even make him laugh now, which is quite entertaining. I always said I would not be a mom who used baby talk, but it is just so darn addictive & I am hooked. Especially when cooing & talking jibberish results in a baby grin from ear to ear.
His check up went great & he received his scheduled shots. The nurse left quickly after it was over so we could "get ourselves together." Yes, I was crying, too. It was just so heartbreaking. I am glad that was over. I can't imagine what I will do when his heart gets broken for the first time. Wow.
Heading to MS tomorrow...can't wait! Will probably not post next week but will be sure to take lots of pics to post when I return! Happy Memorial Day, everyone, and have a great week!!!!

Winding Down

I survived my first weekend away from Hutch! He spent the weekend in Brownwood with his grandparents, great-parents, Dad, and Uncle Jarrod. He was able to meet many other family members on Jeremy's Dad's side. I think the boys had a great weekend! We had such a great time at my friend, Jessica's, bachelorette party. It was just a few of us, but we all had SO much fun. We stayed at my house Friday & Sunday night. We had a room at the Hyatt on Saturday night. The food was fab- Hula Hut, breakfast at the Driskill, South Congress Cafe, 6th Street Pizza (hehe), pizza again a little while later (even more laughs), Z Tejas, Torchy's queso, and, yes, pizza again. Southside pizza- delish! Casey, I think you are the only of was involved in this weekend's activities who reads my blog.....we did lots of good dinin' this weekend, for sure. I did take a little spill Sat. night & I am left with a bruised foot (still limping) and a skinned knee, but more than anything, it was just really funny. Those curbs can be real tricky.

For those of you Austinites, get the word out! Esther's Folly's is well worth the money! If in the past you have always categorized this place as a spin off of Pete's Piano Bar, or a place only tourists and 21 year olds would fork over their well earned pennies (as did I), LET GO OF THOSE CRAZY PREMONITIONS! All us girls agreed- this was one of the funniest things we have ever been too. We were all ready to jump back in line & hand over another $25 just to see the same show again. This modern day vaudeville show had us doubled over laughing from start to finish. The actors are super talented, the comedian absolutely adorable, and the overall show was just super witty & clever. My new mission is to take everyone coming to visit us to see this show. Just so I have an excuse to go back.

So, we are down to only 4 weeks before I have to go back to work. Boo hoo. I can't believe that Hutch will be 2 months old tomorrow. It makes me super sad to think about ending my everyday routine with him, but it makes me feel so much better just knowing that I will be leaving him in the hands of Haley. I would probably be a wreck if I knew I had to start taking him to daycare. This will definitely be a good transition.

We are headed to Jackson (again) on Friday. I am really excited b/c Jeremy will actually be going with us this time, although he will be heading back to Austin on Monday. Carly & Mark will be making the trek in from Houston, so we will have a house full! Yay!

Alissa is coming in tomorrow to meet little Hutch. I am so excited- haven't seen her since Feb! Hope everyone has a great week!

First Mother's Day

Hutch loves his Dad.

My grandparents & Mom flew in last Thursday & spent the weekend with us. We had SO much fun. The weekend consisted of eating lots of good food (surprise, surprise...:), visiting the Texas History Museum, spending time with our Austin family at Mary & Nelson's, and Gospel Brunch @ Threadgill's to celebrate Mother's Day. We had such a great weekend!

I was thrilled just to be able to celebrate Mother's Day this year! Jeremy & I are so blessed to have this little boy in our lives. We just love him so much & I am so glad to be a Mom! We can't believe how much he has grown over the past 8 weeks. He is definitely getting more independent. He is constantly moving his arms & kicking his legs. He seems to want to just MOVE all the time. We have a feeling we are going to be in for it once he learns to crawl. He also is getting to where he doesn't like to be held as much. He can throw the biggest fits, and as soon as you put him down & leave him alone, he is the happiest baby alive. He just received an activity mat & oh my gosh, you would think he is in heaven. He just laughs & smiles...it is so cute! Jeremy calls it his disco...it plays music & lights up. Should have picked that up a long time ago......
Getting ready for my first weekend without Hutch! Jeremy is taking him to Brownwood this weekend to meet his Great-grandparents. I have some friends coming in for a bachelorette party weekend, so I am really excited about that! I know I will be ready for him to get back home, though. Happy Friday Eve to everyone!!!!!

Hutch's First Date...Playdate, that is.

My friend Amy just had her twin girls, Maggie & Emma, on April 30th. We were so excited to get to meet them! I didn't realize how big Hutch was until I held those little ladies....I felt like I was holding air! They are SO cute & Hutch didn't really know what to think about it all. Congrats Amy & Jason! Your girls are just precious!

Also, thanks Leahbeth for the super cute onesie! I know not too many people read my blog, but my dear friend Leahbeth tie-dies children's clothes & she does such a great job! Her operation is called KnitWhits, and if you can see more of her stuff at www.knitwhitsclothing.blogspot.com Check it out sometime- her stuff is so cute.

A Few New Photos

There's No Place Like Home

I have not posted for a while b/c things have been super busy here. My sisters came in town & spent last weekend with us while Jeremy was in Dallas for a bachelor party. We had such a great time- it was super low key & exactly what we all needed. Hutch enjoyed spending so much time with his aunts!

Haley was gracious enough to forgoe her plane ticket to Jackson & make the long haul with me via interstate. A nice 11 hour drive. Now, if that's not love, I don't know what is. Plus, throw in a new baby who you have to feed & change every few hours, and that adds even more to this equation. We made it safely, however, and the trip was not so bad. Hutch & I had such a great time meeting lots of people, visiting my fav spots, and just hanging out at home. Here are the highlights from our trip:

1. Vasilio's- THANKS, LAURA! Not a trip to Jackson without a meal at this hot spot.
2. Office visits- Hutch was proudly shown off by his grandparents at each of their respective offices. I don't know if I have ever seen my parents so proud.
3. Day in Utica- Hutch had his first visit to Utica where he was able to meet one of his namesake's, my Grandfather, Harold Hutchins Simmons. The bond between the two was obvious to everyone there. Hutch was really fascinated with him- it was so sweet! He also met his Great Grandmother, Rita Simmons, and his Great Aunt Jan. He had quite the welcome party in Utica.
4. Quality time with Leahbeth & Whit- We had so much fun hanging out with LB & little Whit. We spent one afternoon just hanging out & catching up. Whit had fun playing with Hutch while he was sleeping- good thing he is a heavy sleeper! It was quite entertaining.
5. Keifers- another place I have to hit up before I head back to Austin. LB & I had some fun time without the kiddos.
6. Hutch's First Hal & Mal's Visit- We got him in early! Haha! We were able to meet up with Keller, Amy, and their newborn, Jefferson, along with Laura & her new baby. We had a great time showing off our new babies & talking about how things have been since they were all born.
7. Krystals- Yes, you will notice that 4 of the 7 items listed here involve food. It was super tasty, as always. I love Krystals. How can you not love Krystals.
8. Visiting with Kell & Mary Straton- quick visit, but it was great seeing them!
9. Meeting Gran- Hutch had the opportunity to meet his other Great Grandmother, Gran.
10. Thanks, Jan!- A HUGE thank you to Jan for making the trek back to Austin with us! That drive is certainly not an easy one, and we were so appreciative that you helped us out!

So, our "spontaneous" trip to Jackson was a successful, action packed one. This trip was inspired by my dire need to socialize with other humans & get out of my house. As always, my week at home was super busy & filled quickly with meeting family & friends and hitting up my fav local spots. By the end of the trip, I was ready for a few quiet days back in Austin with my husband and baby boy. Here I am & I must say, it is good to be home! I am sure I will be ready to be back on the road & zipping around in no time, but for now, there is definitely no place like home!
