Quarantined

Well, our house has been a barrell of fun over the past week or so! Jeremy thought he had the flu last week, but luckily, did not. Hutch got sick at daycare on Friday, so we spent the weekend pretty much at home doing routine fever checks. I discovered on Sunday that I have pink eye. Hutch was super sick Monday so Jeremy stayed home with him & took him to the doctor. Looks like it is some sort of virus- SO glad it wasn't flu or bronchitis or any of the other crazy things my wild imagination came up with. Hutch broke his fever around 3 yesterday, so we couldn't take him to daycare today due to the 24 hour rule. This also meant we couldn't take him in for his scheduled appt with the neurosurgeon (rescheduled for tomorrow am). Last night we noticed he had a rash all over his legs & his eyes were red. SO, back to the doctor today b/c I was convinced that despite the constant sanitizing of my hands, I had passed on the lovely pink eye to him. The pedicatrician told me that he, in fact, does not have pink eye & his eyes are red probably due to the virus that he has. He also thinks this has caused the rash on his legs. Yay!

He is much better today & I think he is super excited about kickin' it with the other kids at daycare tomorrow. We don't quite have the toy variety that they keep on hand there. I can only sing & do stupid dances for so long before even Hutch starts yawning & checking out his fingernails. May be time for a new investment. Bouncer, maybe?
Despite all of his troubles, the little dude has still been as happy as ever. He hasn't stopped smiling! Here are some recent pictures I thought you may enjoy:
Taken this morning. After taking about 5, I realized that if he has pink eye, then that moment was probably not the most ideal for flash photography. Oops. Sorry, little man.
How awesome is his hair in this pic? And, yes, it looks like this ALL the time. And, no, I don't put anything in it nor do I make it stand up like that. It is au natural, baby. It is getting thinner by the day. What a fun, frizzy 'do, huh? Looks like we may be putting the 'hawk aside for a while & going with the fro.

Nothing exciting going on here. We have experienced our first taste of fall here in Austin, so I was so excited last week to pull some long sleeve clothes out of his closet. He usually wears onesies, so I am always up for an opportunity to dress him up a bit.

I bet the baby chicks at daycare couldn't take their eyes off this little stud that day.

I have been meaning to post the following pics for a while. Isn't this hilarious? I mean, Hutch, GET COMFORTABLE already! No reason not to kick back! He L-O-V-E-S his bottles. And his Dad.

Sometimes he loves his bottles so much, he can't wait to sit down! He is convinced that he has such strong suction power, he can just suck that milk right out of the bottle, even when it is right side up. We think this means he will be very smart. Not really sure how that relates to what he is doing in this pic. Just thought I would throw that in there.
Hutch was so upset about his first day at "school." I mean, it was all we could do to get him in the car seat & out the door. No, really, this was literally taken the morning of his first day at daycare. I am not sure how I managed to get such a good pic amidst all of my sobbing & anxiety attacks. Hutch obviously took this day much better than his parents.

TGIF

Hello, friends! Sorry for the delay in a new post- our lives have been pretty uneventful over the past week or so. And, let me just say, we have LOVED it that way. We have had so much fun having 0 plans. And, before you get too excited....I must admit that nothing is changing over the course of the next couple of weeks. So, what have all of you been up to???

I had a 1/2 day today to take Hutch to his 6 month checkup. He was such a little trooper- he took those 4 shots like a real man. We did find out that he has to go see a neurosurgeon for his head- looks like the pt hasn't been too beneficial. He will most likely have to be fitted for a helmet to correct some uneven growing in his head. As I am sure any mom would- I have had 1000 thoughts going thru my head in the past couple of hours on what I could have done to prevent this. I won't bore you with the details. We are lucky that it is nothing worse & hopefully, we have caught this early enough that it can be corrected within time.

While I had intended on running a few errands this afternoon with the little dude in tow- I could just tell he wasn't feeling well after his shots, so we headed home & he has been sleeping peacefully for the past couple of hours. Carly & Mark are heading this way for a wedding tomorrow. We can't wait to see them! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

6 Day Run Down

Well, my fellow bloggers, these past few days have been a whirlwind of excitement for us Hoskinsons. Haley left on Thursday afternoon, so we had to face the dreaded goodbye. I will spare you the details- it was a pretty sad scene. Jeremy's parents arrived about 2 hours after Haley left. Friday, Jeremy & I worked a half day, then we headed to Chicago! Jeremy's parents were so sweet to use vacation time, drive all the way here from Odessa, and spend their holiday weekend hanging out with Hutch. From what we hear, everyone had a blast! I know Hutch so enjoyed a few days with his grandparents.

We took a TON of pics in Chicago. Don't worry- I am only posting a few.

On a different note, Hutch started daycare today. One word- UGH. Getting him ready to go this morning was not all that bad. Driving him there was not all that bad. BUT, as soon as I pulled into their parking lot, I lost it. Jeremy met me there b/c we decided it would be best for us to take him together for the first day. While trying to explain to the owner everything I brought, when he ate last, etc., I had tears just running down my face. After several breakdowns throughout the day, I think I am now ok. He received an excellent report for the day & it sounds as if he had a really good time meeting his new friends. Hopefully, tomorrow will be much easier. On me, that is. Looks like the little man is quite ok with his new set up.

All Good Things Must Come to an End

Haley bids us fairwell today & heads back home to Jackson! We are really (I mean, really) sad to leave- especially knowing it will probably be at least a year before we see her again. Not only has she been SUPER helpful over these past few months- we have also grown quite used to having her around! We have been SO blessed to have her here, and she will certainly be missed! We love you, sister! To send her off properly, we made sure to cram in as much fun stuff as possible over the past few days. I took last Friday off so I could hang out with Hutch & her all day. We had such a fun weekend! Here are a few pics to share:
After Church on Sunday
Haley & I decided to bust out the high chair on Friday. The Bumbo seat is getting to be a bit tight for the little fella, so it has been retired to the closet. Of course, we had to photo document the occassion. I think Hutch was pretty indifferent- as long as he still gets food, he is a happy man.

Patiently waiting for his morning fruit. He looks a bit irritated, doesn't he? This is one of the many looks we get when he is hungry.

When peeking in to check the progress of his morning nap on Friday, this is what I saw. Too cute to not take a pic!

Haley took Hutch to Lady Bird lake just about every day this summer. He will sure miss his morning walks through the park. Their trips became such a ritual, I decided it would just be wrong to not take some pics when I tagged along on Friday. Here is Hutch happy to take a break at a water stop.

Under the Mopac bridge- fave spot on the trail

We love this little area. Check out Hutch posing for this picture. For some reason, I just think Olan Mills.
Happy to be breaking! Or maybe just happy to be out of the stroller? Regardless, he was super happy & I was so glad to catch this on film. I think it is one of my all time favorites.
How funny is this? Don't mind us! We're just checking our email & Facebook!

Hula Hut on Saturday. We let Haley pic where to eat Saturday night, and we were simply delighted with her selection. This was Hutch's first experience at the Hula Hut- although, there was no wait, so I don't know if that counts. Typically, you have to wait around 2 hours for a table.
For Haley's last night in Austin, she wanted to go Zen & Yummy Yo. We had so much fun! Although we will certainly miss her when she is gone, we know that great things await her in Thailand!
On a different note, we are heading to Chicago tomorrow! Jeremy's parents are coming in to keep Hutch, so we can go spend the weekend with Kyle, Jessica, Wade, and Melanie. We are so excited! Happy Labor Day weekend, everyone!
