Christmas Recap

Well, Christmas has come and gone....we had such a great weekend with Jeremy's family. Here are a few pics that I took over the past few days:

Uncle Jarrod, Hutch, and Jeremy

Lynn & Casey

Our Christmas tree, which by the way is already in our backyard. I actually took the ornaments off Christmas night & was so excited to see it go this morning. I love putting it up each year, and I love taking it down.
Not everyone gets to sit on the table during Christmas Eve brunch. AND, if it had just been Hutch and his parents, he would have been in a chair. I did have to be the mean Mom when he thought it was funny to actually stand up on the table. He had this look of, "Come on, Mom, live a little...."
The game that Uncle Jarrod wishes he had never invented. He didn't say that, but I know he was thinking it- if not the first time Hutch remembered, then the 25th for sure. If anyone is looking for a way to work out their legs over the next month or two, just head over to our house. Hutch loves this.
Hutch is saying, "A-gin? A-gin? A-gin?" x 100. Seriously. He knows a man's weakness is being the victim of repetition. And he uses it to his advantage every day. Every day.
Hutch must have been a good boy this year to have walked away with the loot he received from Santa! He even received a personal message from Santa Claus!

He was a little overwhelmed at first and not sure what to play with first.
Jeremy hates this hat, but that is ok. Hutch didn't seem to mind wearing it while watching Elmo last night. Of course, I think he was so wrapped up in watching tv, he forgot he was wearing it.

All smiles!!!!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Still no Hazel yet, but we are ready! I really didn't want her to come before Christmas, so we made it. I have been really busy today shopping and cleaning, so hopefully that will trigger something. Regardless, I know my next post will pictures of our new little girl! XOXO

Merry Christmas!

"In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told." Luke 2:1-20

May all of you and your families have a wonderful Christmas, and a blessed 2011!

I'm No Martha Stewart

...in case any of you were wondering. I always love baking for the holidays- I usually make goodies for our neighbors, friends, coworkers, and Hutch's teachers. So, I decided I would knock this out this weekend. I went to the store Saturday & just racked up a bunch of ingredients so I could have a fun assortment of things to choose from. While my Andes-mint-chocolate chip cookies were divine (only had enough for one neighbor, though), my egg-nog cookies were by no means picture perfect. A huge thank you to Tammy for sharing her family recipe on her blog, as the cookies were super tasty (who doesn't love a sugar cookie with homemade frosting?), but my presentation was far from brag-worthy. I guess these soft, icing covered gems just aren't made for confection bags. These particular little bags I scooped up have fun windows in the front to display the treats on the inside. Maybe not such a good idea- as my frosting coated, sprinkle covered sugar cookies looked like one big melted mess. Oh, well, I am still having Jeremy deliver them tomorrow. I put way too much work into those babies to let a little messiness get in the way. Hey, it's the thought that counts right?

In Other News.....
  • Hutch had his first sleep over at his Uncle Jarrod & Aunt Casey's Friday night. From what I hear, he had a ball. Hopefully, this will be the first of many visits on down the road? :)
  • In case you are on the edge of your seat wondering- Hazel is not here yet. I went to the dr. on Friday & I am at a 3! So, I am definitely making progress. My dr. said that I would most likely make it to my Wed. appt., but she can't guarantee anything after that. We are hanging in there!
  • I finally went to see Harry Potter today...I thought it was really good, except I missed several scenes during my 5 trips to the bathroom. Really. That is how many times I went. No exaggeration. Sitting down for a 2.5 hour movie when you are 9 months pregnant is probably not the best idea.

Is everyone ready for Christmas? We are!!!! I will try to post some Hutch pics soon- we have definitely had some good opportunities for some, but I have been too tired to grab my camera. Or lazy, maybe. Anyhow....I promise to take some soon- will definitely take a bunch over Christmas!

Nesting.....A.D.D. style

Being pregnant, I have heard the term "nesting" quite frequently. Not in reference to me, but in reference to all of my other "used-to-be-pregnant" friends. I have always laughed at it, as I haven't really experienced this desire- I really don't think I ever really felt the urge to "nest" while I was preggers with Hutch. For those of you who have NO idea what I am talking about- people often refer to getting your home, life, or what have you ready for your new addition. This may involve cleaning, buying lots of things, getting rid of stuff, etc.

This weekend it hit me full force. And because I have a slight case of A.D.D., I attacked my house like a tornado on flat land. It was a bit annoying, really, and not just to Jeremy. But, I would start out with a closet, and then somehow end up scrubbing counters after walking something out to the garage. It would take me about 15 minutes to realize that I had not planned on starting the kitchen yet & that I was currently wrapped up in another task. Our house looked like a disaster area until about Sunday afternoon. Lucky we didn't have any drop-in's.

So, Hutch's room is a little less cluttered- we finally moved the changing table out into what will eventually be Hazel's room (guest room until all our family heads back after the holidays and Hazel's arrival) and moved in a regular dresser. All of the baby stuff in Hutch's closet has been moved over for Hazel. My floors are mopped. I don't know if I will get around to switching out my shelving paper in the kitchen (this weekend I almost stopped what I was doing to run to Target to pick up a new roll. I just happened to open a drawer to put something up, and thought, "Oh my gosh! This shelving paper is HORRIBLE! Why haven't we switched this out? This needs to be priority. I need to take care of this NOW." ) or convince my husband to paint the trim on our fireplace or take some of Hutch's old clothes to a 2nd hand store, BUT I feel so much better. Yesterday evening, I just couldn't help thinking, "Ahhh. I am ready now."

Last One Standing

Hello, everyone!!! Just an update for all of you- all my prego friends that were due in Dec. have had their babies. SO, it's just me! It has been alot of fun having so many friends who have been pregnant with close due dates, but it's really weird to be the only one left!

I went to the doctor today & it looks like little Hazel Claire is right on schedule- or maybe even a little bit ahead of schedule, per my dr. We have been scheduled to be induced on 12/30. My doctor is actually out of town that day, so she said that day wouldn't work for her- I asked if another doctor could do it because I'm not really that picky. Intern in town, maybe? A nurse you really trust? :) She has me set up to be induced by another doctor that I have met before & that I actually really like, so that is good! Maybe Jeremy will like her better than Dr. S. We will see...
We are super excited & so anxious to meet our little girl. Hutch has NO idea what is about to happen to his "only child" little world. I kinda feel bad for the little guy, but I know he will eventually adore his little sister, so it makes me feel alot better. Jeremy & I are taking off work 12/29 & have declared it "Hutch Day", since it will be his last day as an only child. We are going to take him to all of his favorite places, starting out with the Chik-Fil-A playscape.

I will keep you all posted! How are you holidays going so far? Ours are great! My sisters were in town last weekend & we had SO much fun! The weekend was super low key & included lots of good eating, a movie (Burlesque, for those of you who are interested), church, and a pedi. I wish we could get together more often b/c I LOVE my sisters TONS and am so thankful for them. I wish I had pics to post, but I actually didn't take a single one.

I hope everyone has a great rest of the week- come on Friday, get here already!!!!

There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays

We had a blast in Jackson over the the Thanksgiving holiday. It was a super relaxing long weekend. Here are a few pics that I took:
Is this not hilarious? Here is Haley with her nephews & one of the many souvenirs she brought them from her travels.
I love this picture of Ryder...

We spent Thanksgiving day with approx. 60 other family members at Luckett Lodge. It was great seeing so many we had not seen since Thanksgiving 2 years ago! The food was, as always, divine, and the weather was perfect. Here is a pic of the Lodge from across the pond.
I can never resist a picture of Hutch holding his Dad's hand.
Lolli trying to get a good picture with her 2 grandsons. Hutch is not amused. He isn't quite sure about little Ryder yet.

Elyssa, Mary Linley, Jan, and Lydia

Hutch enjoying a wagon lap on the wrap around porch.
This would probably be funnier if I could post all of the attempts to get a good picture of Haley & Hutch. They are pretty entertaining- Haley is trying to smile in all of them while Hutch is trying everything he can to escape getting his picture taken....again.
Check out this good lookin' family...Carly, Marc, and Ryder

LOVE my sisters! Haley, you're welcome for not publishing the super happy pic of you. :)

Looks like Hutch picked up a passenger...

You know I can't resist a sepia pic!
Every pic I take of Hutch and Cindy is just pure cuteness. They are both always laughing & just up to no good. Partners in crime.

Lolli, Ryder, and Haley

Jeremy & Carly

My grandparents got Hutch his very own John Deere tractor for Christmas.
And, just in case the little boy on the box looks familiar...it's Hutch! They taped a picture of his head on the little boy that is riding the tractor!
Hutch & Paw Paw- he can't wait to jump on & take that tractor for a spin!

Hutch also received a John Deere hat to go with his new set of wheels. This is the best pic I could get out of this sleepy guy Sat night. In case you are wondering what's up with all of the gifts, we went ahead & did Christmas with my family since we will be spending Christmas with Jeremy's family this year. Note the bruise on Hutch's nose- he took a tumble into what we think was a baseboard earlier that night.
Ryder's present from Hutch- an owl hat! I think it looks perfect on him! Thanks, Christie! If anyone is interested, my friend makes these (among many other super cute designs) and sells them on etsy. I can hook you up with her info, if you are need of a cute children's gift!

Can't believe the weekend flew by- I guess it always does, huh? We are so blessed to have such great friends and family! Also, I can't close without saying "GO DAWGS!!!!" We were so excited for the win over Ole Miss this weekend!
Hope everyone had a happy & safe Thanksgiving!

Giving Thanks

I just wanted to post an early, "Happy Thanksgiving" to everyone! We loaded up the car this morning & are planning on hitting the road to MS as soon as we get off work today. I am really excited b/c we have our annual Thanksgiving lunch at work (my contribution- hasbrown casserole, yum) and then I am volunteering at the annual HEB Feast of Sharing, where I will be helping prepare plates for the homeless with my coworkers.

We are driving to Longview tonight & then planning on being in Madison around noon tomorrow. We can't wait to spend a few days with the family & are especially looking forward to enjoying Thanksgiving lunch with the expected 62 family members out at Luckett Lodge!

I hope that everyone has a blessed and happy Thanksgiving- safe travels to all of you who have trips planned!

I'm Thankful from A to Z

I have really enjoyed reading many blogs this month that have focused on listing out different things their owners are thankful for- you know, in the spirit of Thanksgiving. SO, it has inspired me to do something similar. I thought, in honor of Thanksgiving, and because I have so many things to be thankful for, I would dedicate this post to "The Things I am Thankful for, A-Z." What are you thankful for this year?

A- Artists. Even though I am not one; I am so thankful to know so many! This has been very advantagous when it comes to home decorating, gifts for others, etc. So thankful for the creative ones in my life!

B- Book Club. Even though we don't technically read the books each month (this month we are doing a holiday cookie party), it is always fun to get together each month with this mix of ladies.

C- Cheeseballs...why, OH WHY, are so they SO good? Thanks, Chad, for the 4 bags you gave me as a baby gift. 1 down, 3 to go.

D- Dogs. While our 2 dogs lives certainly have changed over the past couple of years, I still adore them and am so thankful to have them!

E- Expecting- As in "I am." I can't wait for our little Hazel to get here....only 7 more weeks to go!

F- Family & Friends. I love these people more than words can say!

G- Grub. As in good, 'ole, southern cooking- can't wait to get my hands on some next week!

H- Hutch. Ahhhh, this little boy has my heart.

I- In- Laws. I have great ones, what more can I say?

J- Jeremy. My soul-mate. I would be such a mess without this man. I love him dearly & am reassured daily that we were truly meant to be together. Love you, honey!

K- Kisses from Hutch. They may be super sloppy, but they are full of nothing but love.

L- Lamps. If you know me well at all, then you know I hate overhead lights. I love, love, love lamps. And even though Jeremy doesn't understand this weird thing about me at all & he is total opposite (as in hates lamps & loves overhead), he usually lets me win & pick the lighting for whichever room we are occupying. I would put lamps in my kitchen if he would let me.

M- Music. It's always on at our house.

N- Nails done. As in pedicures, but I already used p & I am more thankful for my parents than pedicures. But I do love climbing into that massage chair & just letting go for an hour. Bliss. Probably my favorite indulgence ever.

O- Outlook. My new ride has taken me wherever I have needed to go (of course, eating up a ton of gas along the way, but that was expected, right?) over the past few months with only a few minor hiccups along the way. I am really excited about breaking her in on our first real road trip next week. AND, Outlook, as in my email! I don't know what I would do without it!

P- Parents. Sorry, everyone, I hate to tell you, but I have the best ever. :) I couldn't have asked for a better set & I am so thankful for how I was raised & for the relationship I have always had with them. I only hope I am half the mother my Mom has always been to me.

Q- Quiet. Our house is loud. And it is about to get even louder. I have grown to love the constant noise of the little fella running around yelling, singing, dropping things he should not be holding in the first place. It is what my idea of "home" has become. But, let me tell you- I also cherish when our house is quiet (a.k.a.- when Hutch has gone to sleep:) I also like to call this "me time."

R- Reading. Or as Jeremy so lovingly calls it, "nerding out."

S- Sisters. I was able to have good chats with both of my sisters yesterday & I just don't know what I would do without them. I am so blessed to be so close to both of them!

T- Text messaging. What did we do without it????

U- Utica, MS. This little town holds many special memories of spending time on my grandparent's cotton farm. Here are just a few things that I immediately think of: sunsets, cows, riding around in the back of a pickup, shooting guns, Bill's Dollar Store, cheese biscuits, cold apples with the skin peeled off, the "boogie song" on the piano, old Barbie dolls, hamburgers on the patio with cokes so cold they have ice in them, naps, the Cozy Coup, tv shows recorded to vhs, Bingo, and just happiness. Pure, spoiled-rotten, happiness. And visiting my grandparents still brings back all of these things when I visit today. Who knows, maybe Utica will have a new set of residents in a few years?

V- Vacation days. Whether I am sitting at home on a stay-cation or traveling somewhere. I. LOVE. DAYS. OFF. and 8 years at my company has earned me earned quite a few of them at work.

W- Work. I always thought I was meant to not work. I really did. My degree was just a back up plan. And, while I definitely have my moments at work & if given the option, I would rather be living it up as a rich stay at home Mom, I am so thankful to have a job that I enjoy going to each day!

X- ercise. Not that I currently do it. But, I really plan to after Hazel is born. I know, this is a stretch (haha), but what else are you supposed to use for X?

Y- Yeast Rolls made by Mee Maw. Yummy.

Z- zzzzz's, as in sleep! While little Hazel's constant nighttime movement is preventing me from getting all the zzz's I am used to, I am sure it is a sign of things to come. So I am extremely grateful for the sleep I am getting, knowing my nights are most likely about to take a turn...

Hello, Monday...

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was FABULOUS! I headed to Houston Saturday morning to spend the weekend with Carly. I arrived around noon & we headed over to the Nutcracker Market. It was SO much fun! It was super crowded & there were SO many vendors. We didn't even have time to see all of the booths. Regardless, we walked away with some fun Christmas gifts for friends & family. We plan on making this a tradition each year- maybe next year Haley & my Mom can join us!

Saturday night, we met up with Jenn, Alissa, and Jenn's SIL for dinner at Maggiano's. It was soooo good & I was so surprised when I was presented with baby gifts for little Hazel Claire! Turns out, they planned a little mini shower for me- I truly have the best friends a girl could ask for! Hazel will certainly be stylin' in her new outfits! When we got back to Carly & Marc's, Carly came downstairs with a huge gift from them & my parents- a Nap Nanny! I am so excited- we never had one of these for Hutch (I had never even heard of them), but I see how much Carly & Marc use theirs & I don't know how we did without one. This will certainly be helpful with having 2 kiddos to watch. I also got some qt in with my little nephew, Ryder. Oh my gosh, I just adore him- he is so sweet & good natured & just adorable! I am so mad I have no pictures. I will make up for it at Thanksgiving.

Jeremy & Hutch spent the weekend in Brownwood- Jeremy's grandfather gave Hutch a harmonica & to say he loves it is a HUGE understatement. He knows how to play it (no recognizeable songs as of yet, but I am sure that is only a matter of time:) but he loves to blow on it & hear the sounds. This morning I woke Hutch up & was getting him dressed. Well, Jeremy started playing the harmonica in the living room & I wish I had a picture of Hutch's face. His eyebrows shot up SO high & he broke into the biggest grin & starting doing a little jig right there on the changing table. It was hilarious!

We have a bit of a quiet week this week & this weekend I am planning on wrapping up some Christmas shopping. I know it's early, but we are doing Christmas with my fam in Jackson while we are there for Thanksgiving. I also plan on taking some good pics of Hutch for our Christmas card, since the lights idea didn't work out. The biggest highlight of this week? HALEY IS COMING HOME! Yay! She flies in on Thursday & we are SO excited! We haven't seen her since Carly & Marc's wedding in March, so we are thrilled to get her back in the US.

Have a great week, everyone!

Just Stopping By...

To say hello! I have been meaning to post all week, but I just don't know where the time has gone! We had a great time this past weekend with Jeremy's parents being in town. Friday night, we had a late dinner at Waterloo & Hutch was able to log some time in on their playground. That is his newfound love, btw. Anytime we pass any sort of playground, Hutch will start yelling, "SIDE! SIDE! SIDE!" (for those of you completed puzzled, translation=slide) Saturday morning also consisted of some playround action at Chik-Fil-A. We have discovered that breakfast is the perfect time to take Hutch there b/c he usually has the playground all to himself. Saturday afternoon, Lynn, Casey, and I spent some time at Southpark Meadows doing some shopping. I have recently re-discovered Marshalls & I LOVE it! I always seem to walk out of there with some great purchases. Jeremy, close your eyes- this may be my new Target.

Saturday night, we headed over to the Salt Lick to celebrate Kyle's birthday. We had so much fun & the food was delish, as always. Here are a few pics of everyone.
Hutch (way past his bedtime, btw)....he was much happier after the food arrived.

Lynn & Doug

Casey & Jarrod
Kyle & Jessica
We so enjoyed Jeremy's parents being here. Lynn & Doug, thank you again for everything & we can't wait to see you at Christmas!!!!

Ok, this next picture is totally random, but I decided to attempt to get a few pics of Hutch playing with Christmas lights in efforts to get a good Christmas card picture. Well, everything was going well until I suggested that Jeremy pick the lights up and dangle them around Hutch. Hutch completely freaked out & started crying, screaming, "IGHTS! IGHTS! IGHTS!" So, fabulous- Hutch is now terrified of Christmas lights. Seriously, this completely did him in for the night & we had to give him a bath & put him to bed shortly thereafter. We may have the only Christmas tree with no lights & decorations from half way up. Needless to say, this idea will not make it to the Christmas card this year. Guess we will have to try to find something else. Anyways, even though the lighting is bad, this was one cute one I managed to get before the trauma occured.
I am headed solo to Houston this weekend to spend some time with Carly-yay!!! We are going to the Nutcracker Market. I am really excited b/c I have never been & I hope to knock out a few Christmas gifts while I am there. And, as an added bonus, I look forward to getting my hands on that little Ryder! Marc, I am excited about seeing you, too! :) We also plan to have dinner with 2 of my besties, Jenn & Alissa. Meanwhile, Jeremy is taking the little 'fella to Brownwood to see his great-grandparents.
Don't know about all of you, but I am sure glad tomorrow is Thursday- this week has been super long & I am ready for it to end already! OH, and I went to the doctor today. Everything is right on track & I am measuring at 32 weeks. She told me that I can go ahead & schedule an induction date if I want to- I think we are going to shoot for the 30th. I am super excited! We just can't wait to meet our little Hazel!

Happy Halloween!!!!

Happy Halloween, everyone!!! We have had such a fun weekend. Friday night, Jeremy was wrapping up 36 holes of golf to celebrate Kyle's bday, so Hutch & I just kicked it at the house. He thought it was so much fun trying on his "Da-Da's" boots. Forgive our messy bedroom; this pic was just too cute to not post.
Saturday, we headed over to Vince & Megan's to help celebrate Maddox's 1st bday- it was Halloween themed, so we had a great time getting Hutch dressed up. We thought nothing would be more fitting than for Hutch to be a rockstar. As you will soon see, he was quite the little rocker. Here is little Reese the Bumble Bee taking a snack break.

What do you think? Does he play the role well, or what? We bought him a toy guitar to carry around, but he quickly found other things to keep him occupied as soon as we arrived.

A side view of the 'hawk. Would it be bad if I just fix his hair like this on occassion? He had the perfect hair for mohawking & I would just hate for it to go to waste.

One of Hutch's 3 tats. And, yes, it was a bit of a challenge to keep him still for 30 seconds while I applied each one, but well worth it in the end. Does he look tough, or what????

Addie & Annika
Hutch flirtin' with the ladies.

That watermelon slice didn't stand a chance. Oh, and check out Hutch's dragon face painting. Jarrod & Casey took Hutch to the Barton Creek Farmers Market Saturday morning & they had a ball! From what I hear, Hutch's favorite part was the band. He had so much fun & we really enjoyed some quiet time!

Sweet little Emmerson
Hutch taking Charlotte for a spin

Addie, Annika, and Sienna in line for a swing at the pinata

The birthday boy, Maddox

While all the big kids were trying to knock down the pinata, Hutch and Jeremy jumped around in the bounce house

Looks like Hutch picked up Charlotte again.....hmmm.
Hutch and Reese chowing down on cupcakes
Hutch sure was tired when we got home, but not too tired to provide some back up for Hayes Carll on Austin City Limits.

Hope everyone had a fun & safe Halloween! Hutch was quite thankful he was able to go as a rocker vs. the monkey he was forced to be last year. I guess Thanksgiving will be here before we know it...yay! I love the holidays! AND, although I think it is ridiculous that Target already had about 5 aisles dedicated to Christmas, I was secretly a litte bit excited to see all the holiday decor! Have a great week, everyone!
