Memorial Day

Yesterday at church our pastor paused for a moment to recognize all of those who have served or have loved ones who have served in the military. He had them stand up & everyone applauded. This led me to think about all of the wives who have husbands overseas right now. It made me think about all of the children who haven't seen their Daddies in months because they are fighting for our freedom. And it then led me to think about my Grandfathers who served and all of their stories that we will never fully understand or grasp. I am so guilty of not praying nearly enough for our soilders. When I really pause to think about the price they are paying and the price of those who have paid for us to live like we do each day, it literally brings tears to my eyes. Regardless of if you think our current war is right or wrong, remember what today is about! Happy Memorial Day!

Weekend Getaway

We had SUCH a great time last weekend! My Mom flew in Thursday night & we headed to San Marcos Friday morning for what was intended to be a short shopping trip at the outlet malls. We were there for 6 hours!!! Needless to say, we had much success! Hutch was great, too, surprisingly. I don't think I would have been too happy of a camper if I was stuck in a stroller for 6 hours. Anyways, we headed to San Antonio afterwards to spend the night. We stayed at the cutest little hotel! It had only been opened for 3 weeks & supposedly was haunted. Luckily, we didn't encounter any ghosts! Here is Hutch & my Mom enjoying dinner on the Riverwalk. Me & Hutch
Here we are in the spot where Jeremy proposed to me!
I thought this was a cool pic.
The Alamo.

The Emily Morgan Hotel- Carly & Haley, this is where we stayed in San Antonio when we came to TX for the reunion many years ago!

Saturday morning, we headed further south to Hebrenville for a baby shower for Carly & Marc. It was quite the party! We had a fabulous time!!! Here is the Mom to Be!!!!
Mom & Carly & Jordan
And you can imagine our surprise when the Mariachi Band showed up! That definitely kicked the party up a notch!
Hutch had a ball playing outside.
Carly & Marc cutting the cake.
Check out this 'do!
I just love Marc's expression in this pic!
And look at this present! haha!
Looks like Ryder is geared up to be an Astros fan!
Ahhhhh, this little girl is SO cute!
And there were even personalized candy bars....
Is that smile contagious, or what?
Mom & a very sleepy Hutch
Glad I caught this on film! Check out his shirt- on backwards & inside out!
After making the trek back to Austin & dropping my Mom off at the airport, I went home to meet Jeremy & his grandmother, Alma. She spent the night with us & went with Jeremy to take Hutch to daycare on Monday- I thought this picture was so cute!
I hope everyone has a safe & fun Memorial Day weekend! Jeremy is heading to Houston for the day on Saturday, but other than that, we have 0 plans, so it should be very relaxing!

Into the Great Wide Open

I wish I could tell you that I just arrived home from Paris. But, I can't- I just arrived home from a business trip that took me out to West Texas for a couple of days. Nonetheless, I wanted to bring my camera along, as there are always interesting things you see out in the country. The drive was actually pretty amazing- the wildflowers were incredible! I wish you all could have seen them in person, as my camera just doesn't quite do it justice.

I turned around when I passed this old building, as I thought it was totally photo-worthy. If I could have turned around for every sign, abandoned building, etc. that I wanted a shot of, well, I wouldn't have even made it to my original destination yet.
Took this in Santa Anna.

Ok, is anyone else completey freaked out by Wind Farms? I don't know what it is, but I am just fascinated by them! They give me heebie jeebies. Weird, huh? I mean, I know they are a great, clean source of power, but I just don't know what to think about them.

Cute little shop somewhere along the way to Brownwood.
Produce shop that is a fave of Jeremy's fam- Lynn, I took this just for you!

Where a Kid Can be a Kid

We decided that the time had come today for Hutch's first Chuck E Cheese adventure. Or maybe Jeremy & I just wanted an excuse to play ski ball & eat pizza? OR maybe I just wanted an excuse to play ski ball & eat pizza? REGARDLESS, we had a great time despite the fact that it was decided that Hutch is probably a wee bit too young to really enjoy what the Cheese has to offer. Lucky for us- all of the things Hutch enjoyed were free, so Jeremy & I were able to take turns blowing all of our tokens! :)
I have many fond memories of going to the old Chuck E Cheese in Jackson off 55. I can still remember the dimming of the lights & "show" that consisted of loudly singing muppets/animals/things while flags danced to the tunes. For all of you Jackson folks- remember the old Elvis room & Beatles room? I can also remember my fave rides- the old blue helicopter & "ferris wheel". I also recall that cheese pizza being absolutely heaven sent. Well, today I had a bit of a reality check & had to snap out of my past- very quickly, might I add. I had to ask the guy at the cash register if the shows were running this morning & he resonded that they run every 5 minutes. We had been there for almost an hour & hadn't even noticed. Aw, so disappointing. No production at all. AND, the pizza was not bad, but it didn't live up to my lofty memories. And the blue helicopter & ferris wheel? Replaced by fire engines & little red sports cars with Stuart Little as the passenger. Oh, childhood, I really missed you today....BUT, I will say- I did spend quite a bit of time playing ski ball & I am proud to say that I am still HORRIBLE at it. At least some things haven't changed...So, here are a few shots of Hutch having fun in his own unique & special way at Chuck E Cheeses today!
Apparently, this is a new thing- I guess if it's your bday or something you stand in & tickets fly everywhere for a minute or something. Hutch just liked kissing the glass. And, no, I didn't stop him. I just took pictures.

The great thing about going at 11:30 is we had lots of room for Hutch to crawl around. I think this was what he enjoyed most!

Ahhh, does that smile not just melt your little heart?

Hutch really liked Chuck.
Hutch & his Dad. Notice the no beard? Jeremy got an itch to shave it off this morning. I am on a "Bring the Beard Back" campaign. I think I am winning.
Hutch decided if he was old enough to be at Chuck E Cheese's, then he was old enough to eat a slice of pizza all by himself.

Just cruisin' with Stuart.
Not a fan of the horseback ride. So, he's not quite the little cowboy just yet. But, hey, he's only 15 months old.
Hope y'all have a great week! We are SO excited that my Mom is flying in Thursday night to ride with us to Carly & Marc's first baby shower in Hebernville. I am off Friday & we are heading to San Antonio to spend the night en route. It should be so much fun! I hope that y'all had a great weekend!

It's Party Time

Your social calendar sure does change when you have kids, wouldn't you say? Last weekend we attended 2 birthday parties & Hutch had a ball at each one. Here he is at the park celebrating Porter & Piper's 5th bday party. BTW, since E's party, he has a newfound love for playscapes.

We were also excited to help Annika celebrate her 5th birthday party that weekend. Here is the bday girl posing for a pic. How cute is she????
Super cute cupcakes.
Hutch looks like he is up to noooooo good.

I love this picture of Reese!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I wanted to dedicate this post to all the Mom's out there- Happy Mother's Day!!! I am so fortunate to have been blessed with so many wonderful & strong "Mom's" in my life- from my own mom, to my grandmothers, to my mother-in-law; I truly know that their influence and love have made me a better mother today. This is the 2nd year I have been fortunate enough to truly celebrate being a Mom- it is so awesome!

To my own Mama, Jackie Boone- thank you so much for being not only my mother, but for being my best friend. I know we went through some times where you were a bit concerned on how I may turn out (glad we can laugh about those phases now:), but you never stopped loving or believeing in me, and for that I am so thankful! You always, always put your children's needs way above your own. I love you so very much & thank God for you daily!

How did y'all celebrate Mom's day? Jeremy, Hutch, and I went to church & then relaxed at home all afternoon. This rainy day has been perfect for being super lazy. We are going to treat ourselves to dinner at Chuy's tonight to celebrate. Hope everyone had a wonderful day & has a fantastic week!
