As We Prepare to Leave Texas

As we wrap up our last week as Texas residents, I thought it would only be appropriate to list out what I am going to miss about this great, great state A-Z style....

A- Austin, my home for the past 4 years. You are a wonderfully, unique city & I promise to visit you often.
B- Blues on the Green. Although we didn't go often; it was always nice just knowing it was an option
C- Country Home
D- Doctors. I know this is a silly one but you can't place a value on being comfortable with your medical providers.
E- Enterprise coworkers....GP65 ROCKS!
F- Friends. We love our Austin friends & promise to keep in touch
G- Grocey Store, as in HEB. You can't beat their produce. And tortillas.
H- Hill Country, I will forever miss your beautiful wildflowers.
I- Independence, as in Texas Independence Day. Will definitely miss the independent spirit that Texas evokes. And even though at times it can be a bit overwhelming, I will miss seeing the flag and the state everytime I turn my head.
J- Jarrod & Casey- promise you we will visit...(ellipses especially for Casey)
K- Kafe. Normally spelled South Congress Cafe, but I already used C. And S.
L- LadyBird Lake. Jeremy could go on for hours about LadyBird Lake. And Live Music.
M- Matt's El Rancho...Yummy. I am going to need the recipe for the Bob Armstrong Dip. ASAP.
N- Neighbors. We had great & interesting neighbors on the 'streak.
O- Out of Town Trips. I am looking forward to giving the Outlook a rest from her countless roadtrips, but I sure will miss our close proximity to so many cool places.
P- Patio Bars. Although Jackson has a few, I will miss the endless number of patio bars in Austin.
Q- Quick Commute. I will never have a faster commute to work than I have over the past 3 years. It would be physically impossible.
R- Ramirez's. Meaning my sister & her sweet fam who lived just down the road in Htown.
S- Starstreak Drive- it's not goodbye, Starstreak. We will definitely see you soon.
T- Torchy's Queso & Trudy's.
U- mmmm, I have tried to think of something for U for about 15 minutes. And I am over it, so I get one freebie.
V- Variety. If you want it, Austin has it.
W- Whole Foods. So long, Caprese sandwich. I loved you even though you were extremely overpriced.
X-Xcellent food. Especially in Houston- great restaurants.
Y- You know, everything else I can't fit on this list.
Z- zippin' to Houston...I think Hwy 71 will certainly miss me.

Thanks, Austin, for 4 great years! My next post will be dedicated to reasons I am excited about moving to MS, but it just wouldn't feel right not recognizing Texas for the many wonderful years. My internet at home has decided to call it quits, so I don't know when I will post again, but it will be as soon as I can! We are in Houston this weekend celebrating Chad's 40th, so it is great to spend some time with our Htown friends before making the big move. Plus, it sure is great to see my hubby for a couple of days since he has been in MS all week. Plus, it's great to be kid free for a couple of days, even though Imiss them like CRAZY! See ya soon!

Go, Dog, Go!!!

We celebrated Hutch turning 2 this weekend with a "Go, Dog, Go!" party. It was a blast & we were so glad so many could make it! For those of you who wanted to be there but were not able to be- you were certainly missed! Hopefully, these pics will kinda make you feel like you were there.
For those of you who may be wondering, we are not making the peace sign (ahem, Haley)- we are holding up 2 because Hutch is now 2. Just in case you were curious.
We hung this last year for Hutch's bday so I thought I would carry on the tradition.

The "Make Your Own Party Hat" station. Not a very successful station, might I add, but that's ok.
Guess how many bones are in the jar?
Check out this sweet cake.
The doggie bags for the kiddos to take home.
I love this pic b/c it looks like Hazel is smiling at Haley.
Maggie and Emma. Or Emma and Maggie. I think I have to do this everytime I post a pic of them together. Sorry, Amy! :) Regardless, they are 2 cute little girls. I mean, really, is there anything cuter than twin toddler girls?
Emmerson & Sammi
Just hanging out!
Hutch & Sammi taking a spin on the wagon.

The dog pinata. Not as much fun as I had hoped. Although, the dogs sure enjoyed helping pick up the candy.
There's those little cuties again!
Haley & Joy Beth
Aunt Myrtle & Hazel Claire. I think Hazel was thinking about having ponies & princesses at her 2 year bday party.
Hutch was a bit shy when it came time to blow out the candles. He didn't know what to think about everyone singing to him. But, eventually, he loved being in the spotlight. He is still singing happy birthday to himself, btw.
Daddy was happy to help blow out the candles.

Nelson & Hazel
The following are some promised pics from our trip to Brownwood:

Oh, yes, we have a little girl who has learned how to smile.
Hutch helping Nanny Pat in the kitchen.
Check out this crew!
OH, and this is totally random but just too cute to not post. I looked out the window the other day & saw this....Hutch was helping his Dad mow the yard!

Jeremy headed to MS on Monday, so it's just me & the kiddos! Yikes! It actually isn't so bad, but things are so busy. I just don't know where the time is going. It has been fun just kickin' it with Hutch & Hazel. I have also been busy packing, with the help of Jarrod & Casey (thanks a ton!) b/c movers are coming a week from tomorrow. Lots of exciting things going on!

It's Official!!!

We are moving to Mississippi!!!! Big news, right? We are so excited & definitely a little bit stressed. Ok, maybe alot stressed as we have a TON to do but that's ok. We are dealing with all of that. Jeremy has already gotten a great job and I am in the process for looking for something. Yes, I am leaving Enterprise- this was such a difficult decision to make as I have been with the company for almost 9 years!!! I love my job so much, but there was no way I could keep doing what I am doing by moving to MS. So, hopefully, I will find something soon! I am so excited about the opportunity to raise our kids in a smaller town and be closer to my family. I also can't wait for Hutch & Hazel to experience the things that I did growing up- MS State games, St. Paddy's Day, the fair, etc., etc. Of course, moving closer to my family means we will be moving a bit further from Jeremy's family. This is certainly the downside of this decision, however, we hope that we will see them often! Jeremy is leaving on Monday. My last day at work is 3/30 and we plan on heading to Jackson that following weekend. In the meantime, we are super busy trying to get our house rented out (which means ALOT of work, btw), find a house to rent in Jackson, find a job (me), start looking at daycare options for the kiddos, etc. Phew, the list goes on and on. We know that we are making the right decision, though, and in a few months all of this stress will have been well worth it. SO, look out, Jackson, here we come!
I have pics to post from our trip to Brownwood last weekend & Hutch's 2 year bday party is this weekend (already?), and I definitely want to write a post dedicated to all of the things I will miss about Austin. As excited as I am about moving, I have sure loved living here for the past 4 years. So, more soon, I promise!!!

Ryder's Christening

I have been meaning to post all week, but our computer has been out of commission for a few days. We headed to Houston last weekend to spend some time with my fam & witness Ryder's Christening. We were only in Houston for about 24 hours, but, wow, did we get alot accomplished. :) First things first, however- before leaving, we stopped by little James' 2nd bday party (funny story, met his mom at my doctor's office right before I had Hazel & we have just kept in touch ever since! She is due in about a week, I think). Anyways, Hazel was decked out in her polka dots (thanks, Pope family, she looked ADORABLE!), so I had to get a pic! Hutch loved the train. Actually, he did really like it. I mean, it took a little while, but he eventually came 'round. He was bawling (see above) when they cranked it up & Jeremy & I kept just smiling, shouting, "It's ok, honey, now smile for the camera, ok?" I think when that little engine returned, he was secretly thanking us for not taking him off.
And, much to Hutch's pleasure, he found a guitar! He looks like a natural, doesn't he?
We made it into Houston just in time to join the masses at our fave spot, The Rajun Cajun. Luckily, the Johnson family was able to meet up with us along with Alissa. When I say that place was packed, I mean, it was PACKED. I am convinced they were breaking some sort of fire code with the number of people piled into that joint. Nevertheless, the food was great. I didn't get any pics of Alissa, unfortantely, as she spent her entire time there entertaining my eldest child by taking him outside so he could point out the "big fish" (commonly known to us grown folk as a crawfish) on top of the roof. You may also notice there are no pics of Hutch at the Cajun, as when he was not being entertained by Alissa, he was walking up to other tables & starring at their food, licking the floor, and climbing under other people's chairs. Wow, eating out sure isn't what it used to be. You know what, though- I wouldn't trade it for a thing.
Hutch sure has grown to love his little sister. Little sister, on the other hand, hasn't quite figured out her big brother. Do you sense a look of terror in her eyes?
Love. this. pic.
Little Ryder man doesn't miss a thing...how handsome is he getting ready for his christening?
I just thought this was a cool pic.
Awe, how sweet is this?
Hazel catchin' a snooze while everyone gets ready to go to the church.
Oh my gosh, check out those ADORABLE thighs!!! Yes, those belong to Ryder & I just want to pinch them!
Hutch doesn't quite understand that you aren't supposed to sleep during church.
Check out Ryder with his Daddy.
Love my sisters!!!!
How cute is Ryder in this photo?
Hutch took quite a liking to Miss Jordan....as soon as they discovered each other, there were hugs & kisses just a flowin'.

Back to work this past Monday. Boo. Oh, well, it was definitely easier this time- no emotional breakdowns in the classroom, so that is good. We love the place where Hutch & Hazel are, so it made it much easier to leave the little girl there on Monday. Hutch was quite concerned, however. He didn't understand why we were just going to leave her in that room with those people. He wouldn't let go of her carseat & kept asking, "sister????" What a good big brother. I certainly miss my time with my baby girl, but that is the way it goes. I am only working from 8:30-1 this week, so that has been nice. Gotta run- have a great rest of the week & happy hump day! Hutch & I have a hot date planned at Chuck-E-Cheese's tonight with some friends. Should be fun!
