So Long, Dabba-deux

You may be wondering what a Dabba-deux is. Believe me, we wondered, too. But, believe it or not, this is what Hutch called his pacifer. Backstory- for a while we thought he may be part Cajun because everything had a name like this. For example, he called water, "Mam-o." Anyways, would you believe that Mickey Mouse came to our house the other day while Hutch was at school and took all those dabba-deux's away? Yep. He even left a letter explaining to Hutch explaining that he is a big boy now and that there were lots of baby boys that need his dabba-deux's. And to show his appreciation for Hutch being so unknowingly generous, he left himself! And, wait for it.....wait for it....Goofy! Hutch was so excited! We just can't believe we missed him. I'm still trying to figure out how he got into our house.

What's even greater is the fact that Hutch hardly even mentions those dabba-deux's anymore. If you forget about the day he told me that Mickey Mouse was going to bring all of his dabba-deux's back to him, then he hasn't even really thought about them. Thank goodness for Mickey and Goofy, as I think they tend to take his mind off it alot. Of course, he only used those dabba-deux's at night, so having his new friends to cuddle with has sure made it easier.

Kinda sad as a parent, really. I think Hutch would have been totally fine with Mickey and friends visiting our house a few months ago, but Jeremy & I were just not quite ready for that. It makes me a bit sad to think we won't hear "dabba-deux" on a daily basis anymore. Sniff. Sniff. Just a sign that our little fella is growing up.

Can you make them quit growing for just a little bit?

Ryder Comes to Town

I'm not gonna lie. I am backlogged on my blog posts. I mean, there are several things I need to get out there, and I just haven't had time to do so. That being said, I will start with Ryder's visit to town. And Aunt Coco. We were so excited to spend a few days with these 2! Here are some pics from their visit.

A week ago from Tuesday was Hal's bday (Happy Birthday, Hal! Even though I know you don't read my blog- we love ya & want to give you a shout out!) Carly brought this DVD player she has & it turned out to be a lifesaver. Turns out live music doesn't mean a thing when it's paired up against Elmo and grilled cheeses. And, yes, Ryder is rockin' the no-shirt. Good for him.

View from behind. Isn't this cute?
My parents' backyard was muddy. Real muddy. Like, it doesn't matter how much we try, we can't keep their clothes clean muddy. So, you may notice that Ryder and Hazel are both sporting pajamas. With whatever clean clothes we could scrounge up to go with it. I don't think their mis-matched attire bothered them too much. And, look at Hutch. Cleanest one of the bunch. Go figure. Not sure if you notice, but Hazel is wearing a shirt with hedgehogs on it. Because I have recently discovered that little pink hedgehogs are one of the cutest things eva!

Silly face.

Silly face #2. Or maybe we should just call this one "Fake Smile."

Ryder put Hutch to work.

Swing time! And even though this one is a bit blurry due to all the action, I thought it was really cute. Looks like fun, huh?

Busy, busy, busy!

Hazel rocks her new Toms

I think this was taken the weekend before Ryder came, but I thought it was cute. I referred to Hazel as the "Gap Gangsta" all afternoon when she had this on.

We had Hutch's 3rd birthday party tonight & it was so much fun! He is currently laid back in our bed watching "as many Mickey Mouses as he wants because it's his birthday party day and we told him he could." This little fella is a night owl, so it could be a long one for us. Promise to post pics soon!

32 at the Electric Blue

That's right, my friends. I hit the big 3-2 this weekend, and I was so excited to celebrate it with my parents & husband at the Electric Blue Shack in Clarksdale. As expected, we had an absolute blast. And, while I was a bit worried that The Shack Up may be a little too much (or maybe the better word to use here would be "less") than what my parents were in for- we were ecstatic to discover that loved it just as much as we did. Especially after they discovered that the funk in the bathtub was, in fact, just hard water stains or "permanent" funk or whatever you want to call it- it didn't come off when I swiped it with my fingers, so that was good. :)

We arrived at the Electric Blue Shack on Friday night & immediately headed over to Ground Zero Blues Club for some dinner and adult beverages. Jimbo Mathis was playing & it was an awesome show (fave lyrics- "Vicksburg's way up on a hiiiiiillllllll........and Jackson's down below...." We were feelin' the rhythm. I even danced a little jig out on that dance floor all by myself. And I enjoyed every minute of it.

My sweet parents!
We met our new friend, Chip, Saturday morning, and he happened to be doing some construction over at the Hopson Commissary. He gave us a little tour- oh my gosh, this place is a GEM, I tell you. It was like sensory overload. So much to see! Haircut, anyone?
It's like you're outside, but you're not. Ok, not really...but the trees were a cool touch.

I could just picture me here with a strong drink nodding along to some good blues.
The stage at the Commissary
You can even check your mail upon arrival.

Our new friend, Chip, gave us a tour of the Hopson & even took us up top to get some good pictures.
Look! It's where we stayed last time! Well, kinda- you can see the front porch.
Sweeeeeet.
It's Chip! And my parents & Jeremy

The porch off our room
Oh yeah! It's a shack! But it's kinda a trailer, too!
More shacks....I've got my eye on the last one to the right for our next visit. Anyone up for a dip? Apparently, this used to be a functioning pool. We heard that the owners used to lounge around in tubes during the hot delta summers.
Love it. Not sure what he was laughing it, but it was really funny at the time.

This is where our friend/ bartender/ gift shop operator/ coffee maker/ check-er in-er, Allen, stays.
Check out these cool guys! And, yes, Jeremy does have a home-made bandage on his finger. Don't ask. Some of us went home with battle wounds.

I think this is the newest "shack," the "Sky Shack." It is supposed to be really nice, actually.

If you happened to be looking for us Saturday afternoon, this is where you would have found us!
It's me! And I'm 32!
Super excited....
I love my Mom & Dad!

Such a welcoming sight after a long day. :)
The band that played at Rust Saturday night- they even sang me a bday song!
The delta sunrise through a dirty shack window.
Our living room. The picture by the light reads, "It's hard to be humble when you're from Mississippi."
We left our mark!
The Loft, owned and operated by the Commissary. Our friend, Chip, stayed there Friday night and gave us a tour Sat. morning.
Remember the bathtub I mentioned? Yeah, the sink wasn't much better. BUT, I did the finger-swipe test & confirmed it was in fact, clean!
Our front porch decor.
So long, Electric Blue!

Huge shout out to my Aunt Jan & Grandparents for keeping and entertaining The H's while we were gone. We appreciate it more than you know! Thanks again, Shack Up, for an amazing, relaxed weekend. See ya in 6 months!
