On Location

Let me start by saying that I hate to state that we have been busy. Everyone is busy, right? Isn't that just the way things are? One of my biggest pet-peeves is when someone constantly talks about how busy they are. There you go- a fun fact about me. But, really, who isn't busy these days? I know someone who doesn't want to be busy. Jeremy Hoskinson. We tend to differ there- I get antsy if we go too long without plans, whereas he prefers just laying low & not being on a schedule. But, that is for another time. I aptly named this post "On Location" because I think we saw the inside our house on maybe 2 occasions this weekend. It was craziness, people!

Friday night, we headed out to Jacktober Fest downtown & it was an absolute ball. Cool weather, live music, brats, friends, and beer. Yay. We had a great time & some of us may have stayed out a bit later than others, but that's what it's all about, right? High Fives to the Kellers & Stephen Barnett (who, by the way definitely do not read my blog, but I will forgive them) for putting this together. Such Fun.

Saturday, we headed to Hutch's soccer game. Let me just say that the more soccer games we "participate" in, the more we realize Hutch could careless about soccer. I use "participate" very lightly in this case. As in, just being physically present on the field. Hutch, bless his little sweet heart, just does not like soccer. He gets really excited about going & loves when the coach calls him out to the field. But, while everyone else is chasing after that ball, he tends to just wander around and look for airplanes. At this particular game, Coach Rusty said, "Hutch!!! Come on, buddy! Go after that ball!!!" Which Hutch promptly responded, "I'm busy." Huh??? Soooooo, that's that.

Saturday afternoon, we loaded up the car with the kiddos and the 'rents and headed to Starkvegas for Homecoming. It was our first trip up this year & the kiddos had a ton of fun. They loved playing with their little buddies, whom they had not seen in ages. There were people everywhere. I mean, it was crowded. SO, we are all just talking and laughing and hanging out while the H's were running around, and suddenly we hear, "HEY! Look at that little boy tee-teeing in the bushes!!!" Shoot. Jeremy & I made eye contact from across the tent b/c we had a feeling we knew who this little boy was. We dared to look over & sure enough, all we see, ad-mist all of these little MSU fans throwing the football & tailgating, a tiny bare-bottom staring right back at us. Needless to say, Jeremy quickly ran over and assessed the situation & had a nice little chat about where it is appropriate to do this & where it is not. I knew this would come back to bite us.

I told Brandi that she reminded me of a sweet little lady feeding the pigeons in the park.

Sweetness- Hazel & Dani Cook

Surprisingly, Hutch actually sat still & enjoyed some of the game. This was probably about 15 minutes before I caught him licking macaroni off a serving ladle at the buffet line.

Sunday, we headed over to the park for my office fall picnic. It was tons of fun, too!

I know that Tyla was so appreciative of Hutch helping with the Bingo game.

After that, we went to the First Baptist Jackson/ Madison Campus fall festival where the kiddos were excited to sport their Halloween costumes. What are they going to be, you ask??? PIRATES!! ARGGGGH!

So, Hazel's costume may be a teensy bit small. Downfall of ordering online. Anywhoo, I tried to keep the skirt pulled up & she has this super cute skull bandanna that she insisted on taking off so I could immediately put back on. I will have some good pics next week before they hit the streets to scoop up candy.

Doesn't this just make you smile????

Up this weekend: my bestie is coming in!!! YAY! Robert Earl Keene tonight @ H & M's, Croquet tourney at my parents, and another fall festival on Sunday in Utica. And, the weather is supposed to be cool, which is fantastic. Have a lovely weekend, my friends!! XOXO

It's Fall, Y'all!

Let me just tell you that I have been in a productive mood tonight. I cooked up a batch of taco soup for us to have for lunch this week while also cooking our dinner. Then, I whipped up a batch of bacon to go into my bfast dish for our Bosses Breakfast at work tomorrow. Hutch helped stir the crumbles into the mayo. I only tell you this because I got a kick out of him asking me, "Is this your dinner, Mama??" A bowl of crumbled up bacon & mayo. Delish!!!

Did y'all have a great weekend? We did! We went over to a farm in Brandon on Saturday to go for a hayride & see some other fall things. This place was awesome! And, it was pretty close to our house, which was a bonus. And, I got a Groupon that saved us $14!

Who's that handsome stud underneath that hat????

I have decided that Hazel is quite partial to sheep.

One thing she certainly was not partial to was this wagon. Geez, Hazel, just gimme a smile!! Hutch is like, "Welcome to my world."

Snacks make both of these H's smile, though.

Hehe, silly girl.

And check out this little hat-head.

Pumpkin Patch Bound!

I would like to tell you that Hazel was in position to make a pounce onto the pumpkin of her choice. BUT, I am honestly not really sure what she was doing. My guess is she had fallen down & caught this as she was pulling herself up.

And, there's a good chance Hutch was just dancing away in the middle of that pumpkin patch.

Who doesn't love a good hay-maze?

This girl does not like to pose for pictures, that is for sure.

I've learned to be sneaky.

Our loot!

Look! It's goats! Hazel's favorite!

Saturday afternoon, we headed over to see Gran. I am so glad I got some pics of the kiddos with her b/c it had been a while since I brought my camera over. Hutch & Hazel were so glad to see her!

And, they especially loved the lift to the front door.

Sunday, we went & purchased some gourds, hay bales, etc. It was fun decorating the front yard. Ok, I had so much fun with the last post, I just had to do it again. Do you remember this from last year? Wow, has he grown taller!

This picture cracks me up. I actually just made it our desktop background.

And, it wouldn't be fall in Mississippi if it still weren't warm enough to eat popsicles!

On another note, has anyone seen Argo? Mandi & I went to see it Sunday night & it was FANTASTIC! We both loved it. My parents saw it earlier that day & loved it, too. Highly recommend. And, we discovered that the theater by our house (Parkway or Park Place or whatever it's called) has $5.00 movies on Sunday nights. Are you serious??? Is that not a steal?

Headed to Starkville Saturday for the Homecoming game- can't wait! Did y'all watch the game last weekend. Talk about a nail-biter. So glad we won.

Have a great week, friends!

Hutch & Hazel at the Fair

We had so much fun at the fair last night!!! I would hesitate to broadcast that the last Wednesday night is, by far, the best night to go in regards to crowds, however, it's not like the greater Jackson population reads my blog. SO, I think we're cool. That's the night to go, people. It was awesome!

But, before we get into all that. Here's a few "fall" pics of the H's at my parents' last weekend. Hutch spent a couple of days dealing with pneumonia (ick) so we decided to stay inside most of the weekend. BUT, we did sneak out for a few minutes to enjoy the cool weather Sat. afternoon.

Jeremy was at work, so I was trying to find some ways to keep these 2 entertained. This worked for about 10 minutes. And then the "She took miiiiiiiiiiine. Ma-Ma, she has my cray-on!!" And, meanwhile Hazel is yelling, "Mine!Mine!Mine!" and doing this screechy thing that the does that we are trying to get her to quit doing. So, I said, "That's IT! We're going back IN!" And that was that.

Ok, so back to the fair. If you have read my blog over the past few years (bless your heart), then you know I love, love, love the fair! I have so many wonderful memories of going to the fair each year growing up. My parents, no matter how much money they had, always found a way to get us there. We may have been the only kids under 15 who were out at Midnight Maddness, but that was cool with us- super short lines for the kiddie rides when it gets to be about 10:00 PM. Anyways, I still get that giddy, butterflies-in-my-stomach feeling when we are approaching the first of October. And, now it's so much fun to go with little ones and watch their eyes light up when they walk through those gates. And, to have my parents there, too. Sniff, sniff. I really did get a bit emotional today thinking about it. I think it hit me on the tilt-a-whirl last night. My Mom and I took a spin & I could just picture Carly, Haley, my Mom, and me, all crammed into that little cart. We would laugh so hard & my Mom would yell, "LEAN! LEAN!" so we would go super fast. And, at the end of the ride, we would either label our cart "DUDD!" or "GOOD ONE!!!" hoping, of course, for the later. I missed my sisters last night. And, I felt so close to that memory I could close my eyes and feel like I was there. Until I felt a little hand in mine & realized it was my own little girl looking up at me with her big brown eyes. And Hutch eagerly looking in every direction determined to ride everything. And fast. Like at any minute they were going to call the fair over, load up, and pull out.

Look at this sweet face on the ferris wheel.

Ok, so maybe Hazel isn't quite ready for the rides yet. This is about what she looked like the entire time she was on here. And look at Hutch. Just loving it. Perhaps we messed up when we put her on the kiddie rollercoaster first. Maybe we should have tried to ease her into it. Gone for the little cars or something. Oh, well. Live and learn.

View from the top

Well, well, well, look who cheered up!!! This was as they were unloading. Probably explains the sweet smile.

The petting zoo was certainly a hit. Hazel would get in these goat's faces & that made this Mama a nervous wreck. I got her some food out of that machine you see & she immediately decided to give it a sample. I may have had a momentary freak out. Maybe. Well, not really, b/c, honestly I tend to be pretty laid back. I think the conversation went like this: "Hazel, honey, want to feed the goats?? Ok!!! (putting change in) Here you go! (baby goat food into Hazel mouth) Oh, no, sweetie! That's nasty! No big deal! Let's not do that again, ok? Yeah, I know, NASTY!" And that was it. Problem solved & she was obviously not impressed with this little snack as I never witnessed another morsel entering her mouth.

Check out how little this girl was last year when she saw these animals

Wowsers, check out the tongue on that cow!!!

Who doesn't love a pig race? Hutch was even picked to cheer on one pig, but unfortunately, he did not win. Hutch really had no clue what he had been selected to do. He wouldn't really cheer when they were looking for volunteers, so I suggested he dance. And, I guess that worked!

See? Here is he busting a move right there at that pig race.

I take Hutch's picture every year doing this (see here and here)

We tried, we really did.

And, we finally got it.

Hutch said this was his favorite.

So, Hazel decided she wanted to go for a ride, too. I realize that all you can really see in this pic is my hair blowing. And Hazel's arms wide open. But, she loved that slide.

So, another year in the books & it was so much fun!! We even split up for a bit so we could go ride some big-kid rides. And, let me tell you, that Ring of Fire is still as much fun as it used to be. Aunt Jan & I had us a big time- yelling & letting go & everything! My Mom and I didn't quite enjoy one of our old faves as much as we remembered. We were a bit stiff this morning & really wished that when the operator yelled, "WHO WANTS TO GO AGAIN????" and we yelled, "NOOO! NOT US! LET US OFFFFF!" he would have been paying attention. But, oh well, we survived. :) Hope all of you other fair-goers had a lovely time, as well this year. Next thing on our fall list= pumpkin patch & hayride Saturday! Have a great weekend, everyone! XOXO
