Merry Christmas!

Image found here

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.  And everyone went to their own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.  Luke 2:1-20

Merry Christmas to all of you! We thank God for all you and hope that you have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed 2013!

Christmas Going-On's

Christmas is upon us, my friends!!! Are y'all ready? What fun Christmas things have you been up to?

We headed over for a surprise visit to meet Minnie, Mickey, and all their Disney friends last weekend. It was so much fun & the H's were THRILLED to see who they were going to get to have breakfast with. AND it was breakfast for a good cause- a benefit for the American Cancer Society.

Hazel was a bit scared of Minnie at first. She eventually warmed up.

As you can see, Hutch didn't need any convincing to turn around and pose with Mickey.

He is a huge Buzz fan

Group pic with Buzz!

This was Hazel's expression just about the whole time we were there. She kept yelling & laughing, "Duckie!! Duckie!!" (referring to Donald & Daisy)

Pure joy, dontcha think?

Hutch felt the same way. :)

Afterwards, we headed over to see Gran to wish her a Merry Christmas. Brother & Sister love. Makes me smile. Although Hazel looks like she is up to no good.

We headed over to Canton last night w/ my Mom for Christmas on The Square. Family pic! Too bad we already sent out Christmas cards!

Hutch loved the carousel. Of course, he is a cowboy, so he feels at home on a horse.

Bad lighting but I had to post this one.

Carriage ride!

This morning we attended Hutch's Christmas program at school. It was so great!

Look at this sweet Mary & Joseph

Singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"

I thought this was really funny.

Hutch & his buddy, Mason

We have had a great time doing all things Christmas-y this year. We have watched our favorite movies (Christmas Vacation, Elf, Love Actually, The Family Stone, Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Frosty, and The Charlie Brown Special), the gifts are wrapped, and we are ready! Hopefully this cooler weather that is supposed to be coming in tonight will make it feel a bit more like December should feel.

Here's to hoping your December has been filled with love, friends, laughter, smiles, lights and wonderful memories!

Finding Peace

I had typed up a rather lengthy post yesterday, but after re-reading, the words just didn't seem right. I think during a time like this, our feelings and questions and emotions just can't be put into words.
That being said, it has been heavy on my heart to acknowledge the tragedy that occured on Friday somehow in my blog.
I know our hearts are breaking for those parents and siblings and fellow-classmates. May God wrap His loving arms around not only the families whose babies went to be with Jesus Friday morning, but the entire community of Newtown, CT. May God also give us all some sort of peace as we struggle to digest this horrific tragedy.

Hi, there, friends! How are y'all this Monday morning? Did ya have a good weekend? We had so much fun this weekend with Jeremy's Dad here for a quick visit & birthday parties. We have several friends who share December birthdays with our sweet Hazel, so we attended a couple of birthday parties over the course of the weekend.

Hazel & I attended little Caroline's bday party on Saturday morning. Instead of cake, there were donuts. And who doesn't love donuts??? While Hazel enjoyed the toys, food, and the other little people, I enjoyed catching up with some good friends I haven't seen in a while.

Hazel & Caroline

Ellie wanted to ride the scooter.

Toys, Toys, Toys!!! Griffin & Hazel. I can't get over how much Griffin looks like Leahbeth!

Hazel loved her party hat. She wore the entire time we were there.

See? Here are Ellie & Hazel just catching up over some donuts.

Hazel loved trying out Caroline's fairy gear. I think I got a Christmas present idea! (thanks,Sarah!)

And, who doesn't love swim goggles??? This girl does!

Hutch striking his Spiderman pose. We ate dinner that night at Soulshine Pizza & Hutch wore his goggles in. Well, as we were leaving, our server chased us out into the parking lot carrying this particular pair of eyewear, saying, "HEY! Did y'all leave your goggles??" I bet that's the first time he's ever done that.

Sunday, we headed over to Ollie's bday party at the Reunion Barn. They had horses. And cake. And cowboy/ cowgirl activities. Fun, fun, fun! Check out this cowboy. He even got a ride around the corral on another lady's horse as he was coming back from the bathroom. I believe she told Jeremy this: "It's never too early to start someone riding. He's the perfect age for this." While we are all about finding what he loves, I don't think we are quite ready for a horse back riding hobby just yet. :)

AND, can you believe this little girl took a spin around the corral, too? She was so excited & I was certain she would bail out as soon as she crawled up onto that pony. But, she proved me wrong. She loved it. Laura, this outfit's for you.

Hutch said MJ was his cousin. They had tons of fun together & I adore this pic of him!

Just 2 little cowboys checking on their horses.

Hazel & Rivers had fun digging for gold & little ponies. Well, I think there were alot of "MINES!" and some sand-throwing, but that was just expected.

Heart. Melting.

Hutch and his "queen", Ollie Cook (the birthday girl!)

I wish I could have recorded this conversation. I can't even really remember it, but it was funny.

Go get 'em, cowboy!

Cake, cake, cake!!

I don't know about y'all, but I am ready for some cold weather. It is pouring outside right now & colder temps have been promised by our ever-so-reliant weathermen. I have been just sweatin' in my boots & a warm December just feels weird. Although, really, that is usually what we have here.

Have y'all finished your Christmas shopping? We are just about done & am looking forward to a date night with my sweet husband next weekend to wrap it up. Hope y'all have a fantastic week!!

A Shower & a Birthday

Raise your hand if your glad it's the weekend! Me, Me, Me!!! It is 8:11 and I am writing a post to kill time while waiting for the H's to call it a night. I was banking on an early night, considering that naps were nonexistent today. And when I say "banking on an early night," I mean that as in I plan to be sleeping like a little baby by 9:00. Goal of being asleep by 9:00 (PM) on a Sat. night? Thrilling, huh? :)

BUT, that being said, it's been quite a day & I am a bit on the tired side. I started off my morning by helping host a shower for our dear friend, Mandi. We had the shower at our house so I have been busy all week prepping. She & Travis are expecting their baby girl in February.

Diaper cake with Pink Champagne center. I think Mandi thought I was playing some sort of cruel joke on her with anchoring this baby down with a bottle of booze, however, I explained that the purpose of this was to help celebrate after the little girl is born. She will thank me later.

Mandi's fave book when she was a wee one. And, yes, we made her wear the cheesy button.

Hazel was so excited to be with the girls for the shower.

Hostesses with the Mostesses. Mandi's the pregnant one. :) Or, if that doesn't help, as she was quite convinced her dress was throwing off some sort of optical illusion, she is next to me. Then there's Sarah & Jennifer.

How funny is this? I don't know what we were doing. Or talking about. I think Sarah's face is HILARIOUS.

After the shower, we headed over to Hal & Mal's to help Rivers celebrate turning 2. All of our little buddies were there, so that was pretty exciting. Jefferson, Ollie, and Hutch (and you can see Hazel in the background trying to snag some balloons)

The Elmo Princess. Or also known as Rivers. Brandi made her dress- how cute is this little 2 year old?

Hazel playing "Pin the Nose on Elmo" while clutching a stolen baby from Ollie. I think she was saying, "Mine. Mine."

I don't think I have every seen anyone so excited about cake. You should have seen this girl- she ran out to the patio and started passing out plates to everyone. I am convinced that she would have sliced & served pieces if her Mama had let her.

Hutch & his buddy, Jefferson

Kickin' it on the patio!

Attempting to take a group kiddo pic. Not an easy task.

Oh, and did y'all see this on FB? Well, just in case you didn't, Hutch & Hazel caught up with Santa Claus this morning in Canton. Hutch was telling Santa that he wants a Buzz Lightyear for Christmas.

And, here is Hazel, just hoping she makes it out of Santa's lap alive.

Tomorrow we are getting our Christmas tree- I feel so behind! Can't wait to pick it out, put on some Christmas movies, and get to decorating. I think some cooler weather would possibly get me more in the mood, but that's ok. I can just crank the a/c. :) Have a lovely rest of your weekend, friends!
