Happy Birthday, Hazel!

Dear Hazel,

Today you turn THREE!!!! It seems just like yesterday that you entered this world kicking and screaming. Your big brother wasn't quite sure what to think of you, but we were in love with you from the start. To help celebrate your big day, this post is in honor of you. Granted, I know you can't read yet, and you don't even know I keep a blog. AND, you probably don't even know what a blog is. Or the internet, for that matter. But, one thing that I know is that time certainly flies, my sweet girl, and hopefully one day you will be able to look back through all of these posts & smile at the wonderful moments you have helped created. Your favorite things include (but certainly are not limited to): being a princess, painting your nails, doing your makeup with Mama every morning, stickers, putting things in the trash, helping, dancing, singing, laughing, copying Hutch, The Black Keys, waking up extremely early EVERY morning, Tinkerbell, Barbie, bandaids, playing outside, your friends, and cuddling. You are filled with love and passion and laughter and life. Thank you for being such a special little lady. You. Are. Awesome.

We love you to the moon and back- may 3 be your best year EVER! :)

Merry Christmas!

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:10-14
Merry Christmas from our family to yours & may your new year be filled with many blessings!

Weekend Top 5

This weekend was filled with so much fun and so many laughs, I had to share. Here is my list:

1. Hazel is moving to a new class! She is actually over in her big brother's building now, so she is just beside herself. We talked for a few minutes with Hutch this morning & asked if he would look out for her today. Apparently when Jeremy dropped him off this morning, Hutch walked into the cafeteria that was packed with young-uns, held his hands in the air, and yelled, "ATTENTION, EVERYONE!!! EVERYONE LOOK AT ME, PLEASE. EVERYONE!!! HAZEL IS GOING TO BE OVER HERE NOW BECAUSE SHE IS ALMOST THREE YEARS OLD." I think she's in good hands. :)

2. Saturday consisted of morning laziness, homemade waffles (as in not the frozen kind), sweet cuddles, lots of coffee, making Ninjabread cookies and a Christmas party that included the kiddos. FYI, Ninjabread= HUGE SUCCESS. The H's loved decorating them. Hazel's technique consisted of decorating and eating her cookie at the same time. We may have some future bakers on our hand. The party included a huge pinata (or, as Hutch calls them, "piana") that Hutch couldn't wait to get his hands on. I happened to walk into the kitchen & I heard this, "WHAM, WHAM, WHAM" sound and would you believe it was little Hutch out there wacking that pinata with every once of strength in his 4 year old body? The highlight was the next morning as we were loading up for church when he looked at me and said, "Mama, did you see me hit that piana? MAN, I hit it gooood!!!!"

3. Children's Church yesterday. So, the last time all the wee ones were called down to the front of the church for pastor-time, I had to practically drag my two. They were so shy & nervous. Well, this go round, they marched down to the altar, and I moved to the front pew so I could be there for their shy little selves in case they had a case of stage-fright. The thing is, though, that Hazel didn't stop at the altar. She just marched right up to the pulpit and decided to look things over while the pastor was telling the story to the other kiddos. She didn't mind that the whole congration was focused on this story or that she was up there by herself. She checked out Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. Then she turned around, grinned, and looked up at the lights. Then, she realized there was a story being told, so she walked back down to join the others. Then, apparently, she wasn't very intersted in the story, as she stood up and smiled at everyone again, Then, spent some time staring at the ceiling and squinting at the lights. Then, back up to the pulpit again. Meanwhile, as the pastor was telling the story about Mary and Joseph and how if they came to his house, he would want them to be comfortable, Hutch yelled out, "Jesus is comfortable if he is in your heart!!!!" Everyone agreed & there was even mention of maybe a pastoral type career in Hutch's future. My little ones make me smile so much it hurts. :)

4.Frozen, have y'all seen it? We took the kiddos yesterday & it is too cute. Hutch must have enjoyed it more than Hazel, as she whispered in my ear about 30 minutes before it was over, "Can we go home now?" What is about the holidays and the movies? We used to go see just about every movie that was out when I would come home from college for Christmas. And, we used to always go see a movie on Christmas night. I have very fond memories of the movies at Christmas time. Fun times fo-sho!

5. Last night, Hutch and I went to Christ United's Christmas program with my Mom and Aunt Jan. Hutch was on his best behavior- I was so proud. He did look up at Jan once with a pencil up his nose, but other than that, he was pretty wellbehaved! We then ate dinner at Amerigos & it was awesome, as always. I asked Hutch this morning if he had fun & he said yes. I thanked him for going with me & he basically responded that the main reason he went was for the spaghetti.

One week before Christmas! Yay! Our shopping is just about done, so I hope to focus on other Christmas things this week. My plan is to take the kids to look at Christmas lights, bake some good snacks for miscellaneous events, and wrap up my Christmas-movie-must-watch list. We have only watched Elf, The Family Stone, Charlie Brown, and all the classics for kids  So, we need to dust off Christmas Vacation and Love Actually. This kiddos Christmas program is at school tomorrow so I can't wait for that- Hutch has his lines down pat, so he is ready! Hope y'all have a wonderful week! Merry Christmas!

Random Post Time!

Happy Friday Eve, Friends! How are ya? I just realized I am way, way, way overdue for a random post. Here goes.
1. First of all, have you seen this video?? I am determined to round up my sisters and memorize every step. It'll be like the Little Miss Sunshine moment we had years ago. I think I am about half way there.

2. So far, Noodle, our elf, has spent a night cruising around our house w/ Woody in Barbie's stolen corvette,  made himself at home in the H's stockings (or as Hazel prefers to call them, "stocks") and attempted a game of Hungry, Hungry Hippo with Boots, Spiderman and Micky Mouse. Of course, this can be expected of an elf who made his holiday debut on top of a stuffed turkey perched on our dining table this year. That elf is CRAZY.

3. Chocolate Covered Cherries, I am so glad you are back.

4. I am reading a new book- "The Flamethrowers." First of all, have any of you read it? Secondly, if so, does it get any better? I am about 40% through & I really have no idea what's going on.

5. I am in the market for some gray boots- any suggestions? I realized yesterday that my heel has come unglued. At some point, you just gotta let 'em go. Wait, have I mentioned this before?

6. Confession: It has recently been discovered why I do not watch TV. Pretty Little Liars, why do you keep sucking me in episode after episode? What is it about a good teen drama? Stop it, already.

7. What are y'all's Christmas plans? After several weekends on the go, we are staying put for a while. High fives! My plans include finally going to see Catching Fire, taking the H's to see Frozen, and just hanging out. Super ready for my whole fam to get here for Christmas!

8. Hazel is about to be 3. We plan to celebrate at the Children's Museum. She's having a princess cake b/c that's the way she rolls. Word.

9. Jeremy & I recently spent a weekend at the Beau Rivage where it was confirmed that I could never live close to a casino. Stupid slot machines. If I had kept playing, I know I would have won it all back....I just know it.

10. Southwest Airlines, SERIOUSLY????? I am too upset to even comment further on this. We were already mad at you but THIS.DOES.IT. This almost makes me want to just pull out my "tucked away" drink tickets and rip them to shreds just to show you how I feel. Almost.

11. Jeremy spotted Jarrod & Casey on an Austin City Limits taping last night. It was beyond awesome. We paused it. We rewound it. We watched it again. We laughed. We, of course, texted and facebooked J & C to let them know. You would have thought they had just shown up at our door we were so excited. Isn't it fun to see someone you know unexpectedly on TV? It's kinda the same feeling when you pass someone you know on the highway or spot someone you know (& like) out & about. And, really, we live in Jackson so this happens all the time. Does it ever loose it's feel? My Mom & I pass each other all the time on the way to work in the mornings and everytime I spot her, I just want to call her & be like, "HEY! I JUST PASSED YOU!!! HAHA!" It's just too much fun. Reason #237 that living in a small town is awesome. I realize this has nothing to do with how I started #11, but just go with it. Welcome to my world.

Annnnd, that's all I got. Have a lovely weekend, everyone! XOXO

A Texas Thanksgiving

I bet y'all have about given up on me. Thought I had thrown in the blogging towel. As I am sure you can all relate, things have just been CRAZY TOWN around here. Blowin' and goin' without a moment's rest. November found us in TX every weekend except for one (which we were in Biloxi) so blogging has been the last thing on my mind. I am sure you understand. We so enjoyed spending Thanksgiving with Jeremy's family in Brownwood. Here are some pics from the trip. But, first, let me introduce to the cutest turkey there ever was.

You should have heard them sing, "Five fat turkeys..." something or another. It was adorbs.
And, the parents were even invited to stay for lunch afterwards. Which, btw, was one of the best lunches ev-ah.
Here are some pics from Brownwood. I tried to take some pretty pictures for Jeremy b/c this place is so special to him. It was actually pretty cool the whole time we were there so we spent LOTS of time outside.

Flying pigtail pictures are at the top of my list.
Along with little running cowboys.

It's not a party until someone breaks out the fake eyebrows!

As I am sure most of you can relate to, there was a TON of food on Thanksgiving. As in casseroles, meats, pies, veggies, etc., etc. Hutch came in and took a look and said all he wanted was a  PB & J sandwich. What is wrong with that child???

If I had a dollar for every time I chased Hutch and Hazel across that bridge, I would be a wealthy woman.

We also drank hot chocolate out of grown up mugs. It was awesome.
And, it allowed us to contemplate really important things before gearing up for the day.

One of the highlights of the trip? Hutch attempting to slide head first down the stairs on a beach ball. We heard a loud "BOOM!!!" as he made contact with the wall. Then, immediately following, we could hear between his sobs, "That was probably a bad idea! It was all my fault!!!" He's quite the mini dare-devil. Bless his sweet little adventurous heart.
I was able to get some pics of the kiddos Saturday before we left. In between the games of tag and bridge-crossing, that is.

Group pic!
The annual pic- I think this one is my favorite since we have been doing this.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with those that you love. I am so thankful for all of you! XOXO
